FOr just 2k more, you get the 2gb version of the card.
Or you can save the 2k if u dont plan on gaming @ 2560

In most scenarios here too , the 1GB outperforms the 2GB one by 1-2 fps lol

AMD

^^ Yes, 2k only helps at 2560 check out Hardwarecanucks review. It seems there is a max 5% performance penalty(nil u can say) uptil Full HD

ANd anyways, a guy having 2560 monitor would buy something like GTX580 or HD5970/HD6990 anyways

^^ But who's going to say that there won't be any games like GTA4 in future that are more dependent on the amount of texture memory than the power of GPU? It may make sense going for the 1GB version if the price diff is like 5k or the GPU itself is not able to make use of that extra memory. But with just a diff of 2k, it makes sense to go for it and especially if you like to play open world Adventure/RPG games which do make use of texture memory. Anyway's that's my take on it.

GTA IV was :shadedsu: seriously.. I kept "FacePalming" myself wondering if it was even worth the 470 bucks, except that I got soo many DVDs and a colourful box(with booty and chicks)

This actually makes a lot of sense. Unless one is really tight on the budget and 2K will make a heaven-and-hell difference. Games might be more demanding in nature or a wild card might just come, which requires insane amounts of texture loading.

I remember that way back in 2004, Doom 3 had ultra mode which required 512 MB of VRAM. Rage is now going to be released in September, and it is going to be 3 Dual layer discs! The extra 1 GB might be useful in games such as Rage.
