Scheduling downloads

Arthur

Beginner
I use BSNL 500 plan Dataone....i can afford big downloads only at night...

Is there a way to schedule my downloads in firefox to 2 am night and have a nice sleep...which all download mangers have the schedule facility....or which is the best way to schedule downloads..:)

thnx in advance

in flashget - tools - options - schedule :)..

in fact you can put your connection in bridge mode itself and schedule to connect at 2 am , schedule to start downloading and then schedule to shut down at 8am :).. would work flawlessly :)

njoy.

put bios alarm to wake up the system automatically say at 1.45 and use windows scheduler or the downloading software dialer to dial in at 2.05 and disconnect at 7.45.

Use internet download manager (just google for it).U can schedule downloading in it and it gives u the max speed ur conn can offer!

btw wat is 'bridge mode'?

for changing to bridge mode, just open ur router page http://192.168.1.1 and click on WAN on the left side panel of "Home"...in "WAN Setting" select bridge mode...press "Apply"...then go to "Tools" and then "System" and "Save and Reboot"...after reboot you're in bridge mode...

now u need the dialer to dial...for that

Goto Network connections in Ctrl panel >> Create a new connection >> connect to the internet >> setup my connection manually >> connect using broadband connection that requires username & password >> Put in the ISP name ie MTNL >> put in ur username and password >> add a shrtcut (will make it easy to find after setting up the connex.)

now to automate the process, open notepad and type

rasdial MTNL <username> <pwd>

save it as "Connect.bat"

double click on it and see if it's connecting properly...

make another bat file for disconnection...in that type

rasdial MTNL /DISCONNECT

run it and see if it's working... :)

now use the bios alarm to wake your system at say 1:50 AM..

schedule your apps... which ever oyu use to download.. i use flashget and bit comet :). scheduled them to start..(in the advanced options for each scheduled task chk box "run when logged in") so that the scheduled tasks would run without any probs :)

Transfers all routing tasks from the router to your computer's OS. This leaves the relatively weak router hardware to do little more than simple packet pushing, while your powerful cpu handles all the routing tasks.

Bridged mode is much better if you don't want to go through all port forwarding headache for p2p, online gaming, etc.
Just make sure you have a good software firewall installed as now you are fully exposed from behind your router's cover.
