hello guys, have been using this one and after 1 yr of usage started experiencing power issues. I thought that this is only a cabinet front panel issue/cable issue and replaced cable for 2 times and cabinet for 1 time. This thing works out initially for a couple of monhts properly and then i face the same issue (the drive sometimes doesnt get detected and the amber LED blinks rapidly during that period). I have to disconnect/reconnect it sometimes even a couple of times to make it work . May be a loose conduct also..

Now when i connected this drive to my newly bought WD FULL HD media player for the 1st time it was OK. For the 2nd time when i connected, the same power issue and rapid light blinks. Very very frustrated.

Now I want to RMA it. Will they will send me a new drive/repaired one or return the same drive ? .

Has anyone used this drive (the exact model) ?. Please tell me what to do ?. I dont know about the assessment procedure of seagate....

^ Take it to the shop owner with its bill first and demand for a replacement (do formant your drive first if you are concerned about the privacy of your data). He should get it replaced for you (since it is inside the warranty period).

PS - where do you live ?

I have to take it to the service centre not to the dealer. I am from Chennai. But i want to know whether there is any one who is facing the same kind of issue...

I have a 160GB Go. Only once had I a similar experience. If you note the USB cable supplied with the drive has two male connectors marked - power & data. These are supposed to be meant for older boxes that are unable to supply enough power thru' one USB port to power the drive. Seagate does mention that even for newer boxes, they recommend that you connect the drive using both the connectors.

After that experience, I used both the connectors and there were never any issues again.

Suggest that you try the same.
