Storage Solutions Seagate goflex USB3.0 queries

I have a seagate goflex drive and Dell XPS15 laptop with USB3.0 . In the link below I see 2 cables one for USB2.0 and other for USB3.0. I was thinking both the cables are physically the same and if both the devices support USB3.0 it should work at that speeds.

Do I need a special USB3.0 cable for getting the corresponding speeds?

Both are different, One is USB Type other is Esata

You would have to get a FreeAgent® GoFlex™ Upgrade Cable — USB 3.0. US price as from link is $20. (Might be less from some websites). Local price is 1.7k in Chennai

Yeah pricing of USB 3 peripherals is atrocious here like 1.5K for a cable and 3.5K for a compatible 500GB HDD I bought a standard Transcend HDD for 2.8K :bleh:

maybe cuz it uses uses tinned copper stranded AWG-28..

that is because the cable has to have two extra wires dedicated for data transfer < carrying to HDD/ From HDD > and this means miniaturization of all the cables so that the cable doesn't look freakishly thick and is flexible enough
