20 days before my Newly bought Segate HDD fail to pass SMART test by Seatool & I send it (via my vendor) for RMA, I didn't get any response from Segate nor from Vendor (in last 20 days) except my vendor assured me that the HDD Submitted with Service Center.

2 days before I got the SAME HDD (I check serial & PN with Invoice)

Now my question is does Segate provide in Written about it's finding & why they do/don't replace or repair HDD still after HDD FAILS to PASS SMART test by Seatool?

How to find that HDD is Repaired or not?

Thanks :)

The obvious first step is to check with Seatools whether it passes the S.M.A.R.T test now
but is there any mark over hdd to check manually whether the HDD repair or not?

very suprising that you got the same HDD back ( serial number matching)
With seagate, you never get the same HDD back. either the HDD was returned back by the dealer without an RMA, or its a very very rare case.

Happened with me some days back. Sent hard drive 3 times and it was faulty. They sent me back same hard drive without repairing. I had to go to the dealer and he replaced it with another drive.

IMO they will return the same drive if it is found to be perfect. If it is found to be defective during their test, then surely you will get a different drive which possesses a different serial no. Because it is not possible for them to repair the drive immediately which takes sometime. During this period, the customer will not be made to wait and he will be shipped a drive which has been factory reconditioned...

So i think the drive didnt show any errors during their test which made them return the same drive to you....

But while I tried (before sent RMA) Segate's own HDD Testing Tool- SeaTool fails to run SMART test? How they make seatool to run SMART test successfully at their end?
