Seagates International Warranty is invalid in India I recently found out. Although the Seagate Site shows in warranty there is no hope to get a replacement.
Seagate also does not allow any access to their original website. Be careful when buying a new HD. U can be conned.
 
Its been happening everywhere, They are no longer giving warranty for unofficially imported drives in India.
Unless it says who imported the drive in the warranty page you will not get any warranty.

Seagate have changed their warranty policy.
I have a couple of drives which doesn't mention the importers name :( We are screwed.
 
make sure u see the warranty sticker and then buy it.

big names are : supertron , venktron , redington , fortune , champion . others can also add in the distris.
 
Yikes that's bad - never knew Seagate doesn't honour International warranty - is this policy applicable for imported WD drives as well?
 
^ I called up WD Support to ask if they can transfer my 500GB MyBook(bought in UK) to India. They told me to send an email and they'll do the necessary :hap2:
