I have my OS win7 ultimate 64Bit on a 500 GB WD HDD
I have some files also on my Seagate 250GB HDD

Everytime I boot the system goes into chkdsk for the 250GB HDD, deletes some files & boots up.
This happens every time.
I have run Chkdsk utility of Win7 separately also on the 250GB HDD, wherein it ran for hours and completed it without giving any information of the outcome
I have downloaded Seagate tools & run the SMART check but that is showing OK.

Should I transfer all the data to an empty partition in my 500GB HDD & then format the 250 GB and check or is there any other solution ?

Thanks for advising.

You should backup your files as soon as possible.

Chkdsk once caused a lot of damage to my files this way. It may be result of using a third party partition manager...

Is chkdsk fixing any issue and reporting ?. Use HDTune for testing condition of HDD. When using O/ses like win 95 98 or ME, this chkdsk used to run whenever windows starts in my friends computer. After sometime it came to our knowledge that the HDD is having bad sectors and after sometime the HDD itself died.

IMO Its not chkdsk which damages the HDD. Its because the HDD has damages and so chkdsk runs...

Paste the report generated by HDTUNE....
