Segate FreeAgent Go - 160GB External Hard drive

intelxeon

Disciple
Pros:

  1. Very small, portable, very easy to carry around
  2. Quite
  3. Doesn't run very hot
  4. Does not need AC power from wall (uses 2 USD port - one for data and other for power)
  5. 5 year Seagate warranty
  6. The amber light is rather innovative - blinks slowly while copying

Cons
  1. Slow - but it still works fine.
  2. It does take up 2 USB ports but it can run mine off one - One USB is for power and one is for data so if they share one it will decrease the speed
  3. Because it draws power from the computer it will drain a laptop battery faster than one you plug into the wall. But any 2.5 hard drive will do that.
  4. Ceedo Software

FUD

Nothing like that. USB uses separate connections internally for data and power :p

Speed will NOT be affected with 1 port.

The reason usually for 2 USB connections is that some hubs/PCI USB cards etc etc 'may' not be able to provide power as per USB specs to power devices like these which require power from USB entirely. Hence 2 connectors help by drawing power from BOTH ports in order to make up :) NOTHING to do with speed :)

I have seen this on a PCI-USB card :p
