I get this error sometimes during read/write operations in one of the partitions on my HDD. Does this mean my HDD has bad sectors? It's still in warranty period, is this covered under warranty?
It's a 250GB Western Digital and 2 years old.

Are you using RAID, especially Intel RAID or even AHCI, I seem to have seen this error, I think you will find more information once you are able to get the controller information

This error is more of a controller issue than a hdd one

The exact message i get is : Error 0x80070079: The semaphore timeout period has expired.

Whenever I try to play an audio/video file on F: or write a disk from an image stored on F: or copy files from F: to another drive, the applications just freeze up for a long time and sometimes i get this error.

I'm not using RAID.
