I am having problem with Seagate 300GB Hard Disk, it is not detecting now, trying so long time in POST and showing no disk and booting to OS which is in another HDD, even the HDD is getting lightly heating up, but no normal vibration while running,
I am having almost 97% data in it, collection of all movies and songs of my life time.
Serious request to all, to help me get my data back(I cannot download again), is there any software to recover those files?. I can copy to another HDD before giving it to service under warranty.

I have used Ontrack Easy Recovery Pro, its good tool, works good if partitions have MBR lost etc issues.

But UR HDD is not spinning, tried another SATA cable?? U can ask Amarbir, he knows all abt HDD recovery @ hardware level.

Thanks for some info, I will ask Amar about this, this is not SATA version, its IDE, actually I tried to connect through external through USD-IDE convertor, may be at that time its gone.

those damm convertors cause this hdd blowing up many a times......
a small piece of advise to everyone , always test those external casings with a spare hdd and check it out before actually using ur real hdd with all the stuff into it.

Srini : try to take the hdd to a pals place and try connecting the same. U never know!....if it revives , look no further - do not shut the comp down and take all the backup as possible..........try finding out if the hdd has spin up issues or the pcb is dead , if the pcb is dead and the data is really worth it then u can try getting 'same' model hdd and swap the pcb to check it out.. going in for data recovery will be v.v. costly indeed and not guarantted :) ....all the best , hope u get all ur data back...

I worked with that external casing before, its not a problem, I think it does't support more than 137GB.
I tried to connect internally by removing my another HDD, but its not detecting, I have 2 more IDE HDD's but those pcb's are same and this is different, my bad luck.
If you have any idea of good software let me know, I will get and try. Recovery is not for this HDD, actually I downloaded from present working HDD and copied later to that, I have repartitioned present HDD, so I must have to try and recover from previous partitions of present HDD, I am trying lot of softwares, but not good.
