Dear All,
a non-techie guy here.
I am expected to buy a server for my lab which is expected to process large amounts of data. From, the image processing guy we had an estimate of 75 core requirement. I was wondering what kind of things one should consider before buying a server for such large data analysis/number crunching servers. There is a preference towards DELL Servers in general at our university for some reason. Could you suggest a configuration that can suit for this need? or say even brands.
Is it possible to say buy 50 cores or something and by virtual means making it function like 100 cores?
