I am using Windows 10 now. But I am so used to the shift + prntscrn option in Ubuntu which allows us to capture an area of the screen and save it as a file after selection. I wonder whether there is any capture window to file and capture region to file customisation available in Windows 10. If yes, please do share. Thanks.

I usually do: PrintScreen key > Open paint > Ctrl+V > Crop as necessary > Save
For someone from Linux workflow, this is a very long process.

Few good suggestions here which I've never heard of previously. Always used Snagit for screenshot purpose, especially for the scrolling-screenshot feature and a really handy built-in editor as well. But it's a paid software which I couldn't find at reasonable rate anywhere, so always looked for a free variant, not sure which one above would fit my needs though.
On which location is the image saved?
It is not saved. You can find it under the notification area.
Not able to find it there.
However, I don't think this saves the file. I always take the full window snap instead.
This doesn't work with tool tips and some other hover notifications which disappear even with the Windows key. Have to rely on good old Printscreen for that.
It goes to the clipboard, not exactly saved in a location.
I use it quite often, serves my purpose. Just snip and ctrl+v it straight where you want
