DTDC in my area in mumbaii doesnt accept mobile ph or any electronic items...

@archat68 but i guess they ask u to show them whts in the package b4 accepting...atleast they ask me every time.

Not in my case. Just prepare a declaration stating the nature of the item and the value.

You can try TNT - you need to keep the item packed along with a declaration as I mentioned above. Declare that it contains some toy, show-piece or anything except mobile phone and electronic item. Best would be to take printout of a ebay listing of a similar item and attach it along with the declaration. I used the following for shipping a mobile phone a few days ago through DTDC Plus ;) :

eBay India: Wooden Handcrafted Toy Car for Kids and for Home Decor (item 190500231717 end time 16-Feb-2011 16:50:39 IST)

^^ As suggested by archat68, use TNT. But u don't need to hide the fact that it contains a cellphone.

I have sent cellphones many times via TNT and they are very reliable. They'll open the package before you, check the contents and then repack and seal with a TNT seal bearing date/time and other details.

Most of the times I have been charged 151/- rupees excepting a few shipments where I was charged 181/- rupees.

BTW, do you know that the parcels are scanned at all airports when they are shipped via any courier that uses airways for shipping (DTDC/TNT/FirstFlight almost evenyone these days...).

If they find out that the declaration doesn't match the content, they have the right to refuse the shipment. Also, in worst cases, people from DTDC have filcked the original contents and replaced them with other things!!

Imagine what would happen if you declared the contents as a toy. On scanning, the DTDC employee sees it is a cellphone. He flicks it and replaces it with a toy car!! What can you do under such circumstances??

No scanning here at Kolkata Airport atleast - my office just adjacent to domestic cargo terminal of Kolkata Airport through which all courier consignments are handled by various Airlines.

All the bags from the courier companies arrive so late that the Airlines have hard time getting it loaded into the Aircraft - they just weigh, prepare the documents and load into Aircraft.

TNT has stopped shipping mobiles.
These days, the best option is shipping via Bluedart, & DO NOT declare it as a mobile.

+1 for TNt...

Rs151 for normal delivery and Rs185 for express delivery, although there's a very little difference if ur sending to Any metro's..!!

I sent yesterday only to Ludhiana

POSTING MY QUERY ON THIS THREAD: (Dont want to open another thread)
Need to get a mobile shipped from Pune To Delhi
Mobile value : 3k
Tried TNT, but TNT has come refused to accept electronic items at normal rates, they state that you need to pay the min freight charge i.e. 1k
Should i opt for Bluedart and not declare it as a mobile ?
Any other options ?
How about Overnight Express ?

Absolutely correct. Then you can not take any action against them and many airport officials look for this kind of oppurtunity and they then sell the product. The declaration should always match the content. Same for international shipping. Just to save some money it is not wise to lose the entire phone and then crib about it.

Replied on the other thread too. I used DTDC Blue for 200 bucks from Delhi to Pune. BlueDart ****ing expensive for non-documents (phone / no phone doesn't matter). Aramex is another good option, though no insurance

Kindly avoid DTDC, too many theft cases against them(Faheem lost an ipad and ayaskant lost his Dell streak), send it via overnite mobile express.

Avoid DTDC, is full of thieves, I have worst experience with their franchisees @Bangalore. Mobile is a banned item in Bluedart .

Overnite couriers have mobile express which is unique as it is only for mobiles costs 250-350rs depending on agents or franchisees plus insurance 2pc on the value you declare. But still it's risky to remote areas, they will send to local courier agents if they don't have office there, tracking is not possible and no one knows what happens. You should declare the exact value of the item and all accessories.
