I just received a mailer from CitiBank so thought might share with you guys. I have not tried it yet so cannot give any feedback. If anyone else has please feel free to update others about the same.

How it works

1. Register and get your own US address – Exclusive only to Citibank Card members.
2. Fill in your details including your Citibank Credit Card number, expiry date, name (as reflected in your Citibank Credit Card) and delivery address.
3. Submit your registration.
4. Look out for your exclusive US address in your inbox sent by Borderlinx via e-mail.
5. Start shopping!
6. You may consolidate your purchases for FREE for up to 1 month at no extra cost and save on shipping charges.
7. Have DHL deliver all your orders from your US address to the Indian address.
8. At any point in time, please contact our 24 hour Live Chat for assistance or clarification.

this is indeed a great option. instead of depending on others, we can make our own shopping, consolidate and get them to india.

that would depend on the items and the custom duty. DHL usually will contact you first and you will have to give them cash on delivery , or send give them a cheque first hand for customs.

DHL dont contact you - they pay the customs and give you an invoice , you pay for the customs and take delivery

thats what happened to me.

I think when we select what kind of product we are importing / getting delivered Tax is being calculated on the basis of import duty on the product. Also the above calculator is just an approx idea, you will get definite details only when you become registered user.

I can smell a Rat here? why would Citi bank refer a portal such as the one, as they themselves advice thier clients not to share any personal info like credit card details and account info with unknown people.

Secondly there is no way that you can evade the customs duty & charges which themselves amount close to a min 35% of the invoice value of the shipment, which can go higher if the custom officials are not satisfied the value specified in the invoice.

thus a better & safe option is import any items only via handcarry through friends or relatives, thus saving the duty & shipping charges.

^looks legit to me, try n do a bit of google search, thrs no harm in registering ur credit card if its eventually linked to ur account n if u wld notice they are not asking for ccv no, only the card no to remeber for future purchases, secondly the other safe option would be to try out kmd for stuff from outside, he plays at low margin n good volume, thus wld b able to give u good deal option

It seems a nice deal but with so many dupes going around I wouldn't give my cc details to anybody unless I call Citibank at their call center and then they say its OK...

other than that I am a little skeptic. better safe than sorry

Now what I will do is ( pardon my securuty fetish ) I will manually type this info into the browser and then use Open DNS to translate this url and then scan it..
Then I will see what site I will land on.
if its legal then its wonderful.
Thanks

edit, guys I have checked the credentials and It is absolutely genuine.
Absolutely OK:hap2:

I have checked this out and it is all secure and OK. no worries

go to the Citibank India site and you will find the link of globeshopper there..that will explain everything. :)
