Hi Frnds,

I've updgraded my monitor to full hd.

My current configuration is

i3 540

Sapphire 5670 1gb ddr5

4 Gb ddr3 G.skill Ripjawsx 2x2

gigabyte 420w smps

now the issue is that i've updgraded to full hd monitor and ofcourse games do lag if i run them on full hd.

t've a budget of around 10k and i'm confused should i upgrade my GPU only or CPU also.

I don't play many games but mostly multiplayer but need high fps and other offline games should be smoothly playable on high settings (not ultra).

Please suggest.

thanks

Don't think that the i3 540 will be a bottleneck for gaming

Check this

The performance is at medium settings where the CPU plays a bigger part.At full HD the difference between the proccies will be even less with the same GPU.

As you can see in my sig below I was in the same dilemma 1 year back with respect to buying the i3-540 or the 955.Ended up buying the 955 and put in the extra money for the 6950

.One of the best decisions I ever made tech wise.

You can go for the MSI 6850 Cyclone @ 8800

But that PSU of yours is a bit weak I guess.

thanks for the opinion will wait for a week or two if i can get a hand on 7 series or will get something from from 6900 series and i'm thinking to go for corsair vx500w psu. i think it would be more than enough.

Corsair VX550 will easily handle the new 7 series GPUs and I think that if you are buying a 10k GPU the vx550 is overkill.IMHO a VX450 is enough for a 6850/7870

i know that vx 550 might be a overkill, but i got a salary hike xD so i'm gonna go for a decent high end graphic card this time for longer run

Anyone getting HD7870 will get 500W psu so VX550W is not an overkill for it,VX450 limit is HD6870 idle,no ocing,a guy will oc his HD7870 after seeing the benches that it reaches level of 7950 or more,so VX550W is a must get.
