Please help me guys!
I Need a rugged GSM phone for an elderly aunt: she has used nokia 1100, 1200, LG RD3540(cdma).
I need a mobile in ~5k budget that will have EXCELLENT voice clarity and signal reception. I am also willing to buy a much pricier phone if it has these features, but I do NOT want QWERTY and touchscreens as they are too confusing for her.
I have been a lifelong Nokia fan but their latest phones in this range are shockingly poor - bad displays, and very poor voice clarity.
Some Samsung models look good - Primo, Metro s3322, s3530 - can anyone give me feedback on how their voice clarity and battery life is.. (they claim 14 hrs of talk time)
Also is the UI reasonably user friendly and intuitive for a senior citizen (highly educated) to use?
1. Q: Budget?
A: less than 5k
2. Q: Preferred Form Factor(flip, bar, slider)?
A: Bar/slider
3. Q: Preferred display type?
A: TFT - Size min 2in. Should have good resolution and text legibility, even B/W is ok.
4. Q: Do you have any brand preference or dislike? Please name them.
A: Nokia, samsung, LG, SE preferred (any brand is ok except Lava, karbonn, micromax, spice, g5 and other new entrants).
5. Q: Preferred input method (Touchscreen, QWERTY, etc.)?
A: simple keypad - NON touch screen, and non qwerty
6. Q: Camera required or not? If required, please specify type like front camera/flash/etc.
A: low priority - 2-3 mp is ok (and can manage without camera if other parameters are satisfied)
7. Q: Preferred operating system? (Android, Symbian, iOS, Windows Phone etc).
A: any except windows (preferably something that is robust, fast and responsive and will not hang frequently)
8. Q: Preferred connectivity options? (3G, Wifi, Edge etc).
A: edge/GPRS is fine, 3g is bonus if present. phone will be mainly used for voice/text. internet only for emergency email, ticket booking.
9. Q: What is your intended use for this phone(internet, camera, multimedia, mails, etc)?
A: voice, text. very rarely internet used for emergency ticket booking.
10. Q: Any other requirements?
A: --- Need EXCELLENT voice clarity and signal reception.
------ Excellent battery life - atleast 12 hours talk time and 1 week standby
----- Should withstand rough usage
----- Reasonably intuitive and user friendly UI
----- Legible, large size screen with large size fonts (even monochrome is ok)
----- flashlight is desirable
11. Q: If you have already considered a phone then please mention the model.
A: Nokia 100, 101, 1280 - severe voice leakage, and poor voice clarity in reviews.
