This is a good question.

It did for me---SMC asked for more than the price he posted and I paid. I refused and asked for a refund, he chose to send the monitor without the power cable!! It was a struggle getting SMC to deliver the cable.

Was it a deal on TE?
If so, you should have let people know then.. Leave negative rating as well if possible.

Another forum!! What was amazing was how SMC lied about opening box, inserting cable, sealing it with colored tape. There was no cable, no colored tape--offered to take a photo. Shut him up. Took 3 weeks to receive power cable. Refused to reissue bill with new date so I lost the 1-month premium panel warranty.

The worst part was that I did not insist on honoring the price. Told him to wire the money back. He was trying to get me to pay more.

Whatever be the forum where the deal was done, it is immaterial as it is a new item.

IMHO SMC should clarify their position on this issue on this forum as they are registered here as a trader.

You should probably post this account on the dedicated feedback thread for SMC.
Mods might not permit it, but nothing wrong in giving it a shot.

Well ... I suppose the the accessories were delivered to you without any extra cost to you Mr Nag- And no one is perfect it was another employee here who had forgotten to put in the cable and claimed it was. Thats exactly what was communicated to you. Please think about a dealers reputation before making negative comments. Things can be sorted out nicely instead of shouting and blaming. We understand you paid money for everything and anything missing from a bundle can be upsetting. However, there are human ways to settle things instead of blame and shouts and threats. We hope you understand. Let us know if there is any other way we can help you in settling the displeasure of not getting the power cable with your Monitor.

Read my two earlier posts, SMC's response and the details. Draw your own conclusions.

Timeline:

July 14: SMC send account info.
EFT Rs 13,250. Ask to route via Chennai.

July 14, 15: SMC calls, asks for more money. I aks him to refund. SMC tries hard to get at least Rs250. I refuse.
Finally tells me he will get back. Calls back, agrees to sell at original price. Asks me not to post this in forum.
BIG MISTAKE

July 16: ask for tracking info by PM.
No response

July 20: PM again. Finally responds and provides tracking info. Apparently he was away!!

July 21: No monitor. PM again.

July 22 (Thu): Finally monitor arrives. Discover power cable missing.

Call -- no response.
Email -- no response

July 23 (Fri)
Call -- Of course SMC was out on Thursday. Promises action.
I then called Dell, found out the procedure and
informed SMC.

July 26 (Mon)
PM again.
Sent copy of PM to mods.
No response.

July 27 (Tue)
PM mods again.
Finally SMC responds.
"By the time you ordered the monitor, the price was increased. So i called to inform you bout the price increase. But the new price was unacceptable for you. So as a good gesture and because you had already deposited the amount, i decided to go through with the deal even though the monitor was costing us more than what you have paid at that time. And we always check for the power cable before shipping any monitor. I talked to our shipping guys regarding the missing power cable, but they are positive that the monitor was checked for power cable before shipping and the opening was closed by White Tape so that it wouldnt fell out accidentally. Still for your satisfaction, we have shipped a power cable to your address today. Thats all we can do at out end."
Note: SMC PMs me on July 14 with payment info, I pay same day--July 14.
SMC calls me July 14/15 about price increase. Draw your conclusions.
monitor was shipped July 15!!

I did not bargain, argue or plead for the original price. I just said either give me the original price or return the money. It was SMC's choice to accept the price.

Notice that he is doing me a favor by selling at the agreed upon price.
The power cable was never boxed with the monitor--the distributor confirmed this.
Lies and more lies.

July 28: SMC complains to mods about mud-slinging.
I respond.
Mods forward it to SMC and copy me.
SMC doesn't respond.

Aug 2: PM SMC for tracking info, copied mods

Aug 2: Finally receive the tracking info.
Aug 6: Cable finally arrives!!
3 weeks after the billing date.
SMC doesn't send me new invoice.
So have only one week of premium panel warranty instead of one month.
No time to deal with SMC and give up.

Here is what SMC has to say now. Draw your conclusions.

Please read the above message again. The issue was resolved, the cable was sent to you without any cost to you. We agree there was an issue and we resolved it for you. The employee responsible has left the organization since then. Let us know if there is any other way we can help you in settling the displeasure of not getting the power cable with your Monitor.

Raising an issue again which was already resolved to your satisfaction, does not leave a very good impression about anybody.

Raising an issue again which was already resolved to your satisfaction, does not leave a very good impression about anybody.

Oh please....it was not resolved to my satisfaction--I did not get the benefit of the premium panel warranty.

How can you compensate me for what I had to endure to get the power cable?

If you really want to make up for the transgression, you can do two things.

1. Others were charged more than Rs13,250 in that deal. You can refund them the excess amount.

2. Offer a special deal on U2311H to TE members at YOUR cost price, i.e, you make zero profit.

A - Prices change every day we are neither the makers or importers of the said product.

B - We are a business house and not charity even thought there might be products that we give to buyers at very low prices we cant do it without profit as a lot of other costs are involved in getting a product to a customer.

Please make reasonable demands or suggestions.

@ Nag1010 - you are making a big deal of this, after getting all the stuff. These things may bound to happen. They sent you the power cable as well, what r u crying for

SMC is a very good dealer

If you are sooo finicky about all this, buy it locally from your place, dont order online

He did mention what his main complaint was. The loss of Premium panel warranty for whatever duration. Maybe SMC could get in touch with Dell and offer a fix for this?

^^ Premium Panel warranty was introduced later ... he was asking for a bill of later date which is illegal as the sale had already gone into the system... please do not expect us to give him or anyone a bill for a later date than the day the sale was made.

How do you expect the buyer to use the product without a Power cord ?

As you have agreed that you made a mistake in not shipping the power cord with the item, the onus is on you in making good the time lost in warranty till the buyer received the power cord.

If the complaint was resolved in 2-3 days, no one would have held you responsible, but it appears that you took a good 3 weeks between billing & the time Nag received the Power cord finally & was able to use the item.

At every stage he has pmed you or called you, but the delay in response and action was totally at your end, from the facts given on the site.

If possible contact DELL & give them the facts of the case & as you are a reputed dealer, I am sure they will permit you to change the sale date so that the time loss in warranty can be made good

why the hell did he ask you for a bill of later date..???

its bcoz a MORON(either you or some MORON from your staff) deliberately REMOVED the cable due to which the buyer was NOT ABLE to use the monitor for THREE WEEKS after PAYING YOU THE FULL MONEY....:no:

THE GUY PAID U MONEY FOR A MONITOR WITH STANDARD ACCESORIES
AND
U DID NOT DELIVER HIM THE COMPLETE PRODUCT.

ABE without power cable MONITOR KA ACHAAR DALEGA..:@

^ i agree nag has a case for extended warranty as the power cord was delivered late. smc needs to improve customer service.
