Which easy to use software should i use to rip a DVD. The DVD will be having TV series, one season per DVD and i need to rip them as each episode. Which software will be the best for me ??
Would DVD decrypter be a better option for extracting each episode. Also considering that the DVD has subtitles and i intend to also ensure that its subs are also ripped it would be great.
Considering that using DVD Decrypter i can extract each episode as VOB file, how will i be able to rip its subs ??

I have six DVDs to rip so i may not have much time, so a fast working software will be helpful.

well magic dvd ripper is what i have been using. it does what you are asking for. however there are two choices.first that you can copy the whole dvd as it is.but if you have space constraints you can rip ie convert those episodes to a format of your choice.

the first choice is better as you don't have much time as it takes around 20 min to copy a dvd whereas it might take around 2-2.5 hrs to rip one.Though once you have copied them you can easily rip them later if you want to as this tool can rip dvd content present on the hard disk as well

^^ I think i will go with that DVD contents on HDD thing. Also can it read ISO or i will have to copy the DVD contents directly (the VIDEO_TS, AUDIO_TS folders) . Asking because my media player can read ISO so i will be keeping ISO of the DVD as well as rip individual episodes to watch on MP4 player.

You also have a choice in nero recode.the plus is it can convert your files to x264 format viz a space saving format.

+1 for handbrake. If you want something that looks really sleek, use badaboom, which is superfast, but needs a good system. The episodes may be organised into chapters on the DVD, but you may not get them out as individual episodes. For that, you might have to rip then use something to split the ripped video. This is a time consuming process, so if you just want a backup, create a disc image, which is faster than ripping then splitting the files.

VOB files suck in quality and occupy more space on hdd. Are you sure u have no other choice???

if u want total headache-free ripping ie dvd-9 to dvd-5 with everything ,few clicks and used by many videophile ppl..:P .... get dvd2one....try it .still the best

Handbrake is a nice free utility

Other wise the easiest one to use that I've seen is DVDFab Platinum It gives you very good control over DVD's you are copying. They have a separate version for Blu-ray copying. Pls note that this isn't free.

I use DVDFabPlatinum to copy the dvd contents to my hdd. For converting the vob files to avi, I used autogk(divx/xvid+subtitles) earlier. But now I days I use Handbrake(h264-mkv+subtitles) which gives far better quality.Handbrake use multicore hence u may get better speed while converting. In my case it takes 20 minutes to encode one 45 mints episode (single vob file of 1 gb to 250-300mb mkv file) @ single pass- if I go for two pass encodingm,it take additional 15-20 mnts per episode.
