Forum Feedback some threads do not open in browser

for last two to three day i have been observing a strange phenomenon.

i usually surf te forums by way of searching the new posts made after my last visit.
then i open all the pages simultaneously in background pages

then i go on right clicking all the threads of my interest and then read as i get the time.

for last two to three days i have observed some threads do open a new tab and then suddenly the tab is closed and i can not even undo it.

i tried today with IE too but the result is the same.

i am using opera 8.5 + win xp + sp2 + all patches applied + kav + kerio personal fw + adaware + spybot s and d.

no spywares or viruses as per latest defs.

what could be the reasons?

the two threads which did not open today were
one by eazy mentioning release of benq 1650 drive
the other was happy birthday wish to rave.

does any one have observed this??
 
i don't remember blocking simultaneous sessions..

is this with only those threads or with any other also.

Could be your end right now unless anyone else confirms
 
no it happens once in a while with one or two threads only.

today i observed with these two threads only

when i first visited te today evening i had around 57 threads with new posts after my last visit and these two did not open.

edit : could it be a bug with browser (but it is less likely as it happens with both opera and ie)

Its not replicated here......
Will try to do so for another day.

Meanwhile, try this....clear your cache and temp files etc. and logout and login again and try to open those threads. See if there is any effect.

Apart from this, please report more such threads if you face the problem again.
Also, which skin are u using?

cleared all the cache and temp files. logged out (needed to click twice to logout). closed all tabs.
restarted the browser.
logged in

the same problem persists.

i again repeated the same procedure once more and then tried to open the thread without logging in as a guest but to no avail.

problem still persists.

btw i am using glass style.
 
Mind trying out other styles too...coz i am unable to replicate the problem.

Will check again in glass style.
EDIT: Check if ur browser has blocked ads, images etc.
If yes, disable it and then try.
If no, enable it and then try.

Post the result again.
 
@medpal - I do the same thing - but I use IE (I dont like FIREFOX) - I start with Clicking on "NEW POSTS" and then what I want to read I keep right clicking and selecting "open in New Window" so I have multiple IEs running with each thread in its own window. At this minute I have 8 windows running all with threads from TE. I have never seen the problem you mentioned. I dont browse this or any other forum any other way.

..... Just my 2 paise ....

i found the culprit.

initially as i changed the style as per your request it happened in all styles.

i have enabled google derived ads from kerio personal fire wall so during surfing te it does display text ads to me.

even disabling the fire wall did not help.
suddenly thought came to my mind that i have an additional popup blocker in background which is very helpfull.

the pop up blocker is from System mechanic pro 5.5a

the moment i disabled it i was able to read the said posts.
with the windows still open i re enabled the popup blocker and the windows disappeared.

now can you find the link why some windows only closed while a vast majority of them appear. there is no popup or offending attached.

Hi,
It probably is related to the google ads displayed on those pages.
Will try to get my hands on the system mech pop-up blocked and test it personally.

But i think it blocks some ads also. Maybe those were the ones displayed by google on that page.
