Decided to buy Sony ericsson Neo V from amazon

Mt11i - http://www.amazon.co...4573034&sr=1-48

further digging up revealed there are 2 variants Mt11i (international) and Mt11a (for US).

Mt11a - http://www.amazon.co...34722378&sr=1-2

Network spec. of the variants

MT11a (America) - UMTS/HSPA 800/850/1900/2100 GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900

MT11i (international)- GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 3G Network: HSDPA 900 / 2100 (not for USA).

The question is UMTS(3G) is not listed in MT11i. Will this(first hyperlink) work in indian 3G GSM network(Aircel).

What is our 3G network type HSDPA or UMTS ??

if your planning to get the phone via someone who is travelling from US then its fine or else its better to check out the ebay deal for 14.5k.

the price difference of just 1000 would be compensated if its done through international courier services.

both the amazon and ebay india deals have no manufacture warranties in india but you get 6 months dealer warranty on the ebay deal.

It is clearly said that the MT11i is an international version and not for USA market. So you can go ahead with this purchase.

I know this because i got the Xperia RayST18i from Amazon 2 weeks back and it working great in India. The "a" model is meant for USA and the "i" is for the international market.

Further, i got it through SnS service where i was charged Rs.562 for shipping and Rs.370 on customs for the invoice price of $264. You can find the Neo V international version here

^^eh so 264*52+562+370 = 14660 plus additional CC charges on currency conversion ? its available for 13.8k on ebay india.

even the Neo V that the OP wants is available for a cheaper price on ebay india : http://www.ebay.in/i...#ht_4840wt_1139

plus you also get DOA warranty. if you buy from Amazon and its DOA, you are screwed. you'd have to ship it back.

Actually i get Amazon gift vouchers for 50 percent off through a blackmarket deal. So i got the phone for $132*49+562+370 = 7400. Else i wouldnt have gotten it shipped from Amazon.

The OP can go for a purchase from eBay India, but i have heard instances of these import pieces being refurbished. SO purchase one from a trusted dealer, not just lookin at the lowest price.
