Sony officially launches the Xperia SL in India for Rs. 32,549. The Xperia SL is a slight update to Sony's early 2012 flagship, the Xperia S. Following their usual trend (when they updated their Xperia Arc flagship with the Arc S), the Xperia SL launches at a time when Sony has announced their next generation of 2012 Xperia smartphones.

Sony Xperia SL

The Sony Xperia SL is a minor update to the Xperia S to the truest sense. Packing everything that is exactly the Xperia S, the only minor difference is that the SL comes packing with a 200 MHz faster processer, the dual core Snapdragon S3 MSM8255 processor clocked at 1.7 GHz. Rest of the specifications remain the same.

Full Specifications:

  • 4.3" LED Backlit HD (1280x720) display
  • 1.7 GHz dual core Snapdragon S3 MSM8255
  • Adreno 220 GPU
  • 1 GB of RAM
  • 32 GB of internal storage
  • 12 MP camera with LED flash
  • 1080p video @ 30fps
  • 1.3 MP front cam, 720p @ 30fps
  • 10.6 mm thick, 144 grams weight
  • 1750 mAh Li-Ion Battery
  • Android 4.0.4 ICS, upgradable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

The display is crisp, having a very high 342 ppi pixel density. Rest all specifications are practically the same. The design of the phone identical. The battery is on the smaller side for a flagship device with a big display and high power chipset, but the battery life is fairly decent. 420 hours of standby and 8 hours of talk time is on the higher side.

The Xperia SL will receive the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade from Sony sometime later this year (or early next year). The Xperia SL comes with a launch price tag of Rs. 32,549. However, you can grab it for much cheaper.
