The Sony Xperia Tipo is currently the company's lowest end droid from 2012 (now replaced by the Xperia E, which is a hybrid between the Xperia Tipo and the Xperia Miro which are both part of the 2012 line up). What happened is that this cute and small smartphone sold far more than Sony had anticipated, and hence they are planning to update the phone to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and further improve their position in the market compared to competitors like Samsung Galaxy Y Duos, or the LG Optimus L3.
Xperia Tipo Jelly Bean Update

The Mobile Indian got some interesting news from their insider at Sony, who wishes not to be named:

"Sony Xperia Tipo dual has surpassed our sales expectation and is a big hit for us, we want to make it even better with the new Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update in about a month's time."

That puts the Jelly Bean update in the April 2013 time frame, which honestly nobody could complain about. The new Jelly Bean upgrade will include the new Sony Music App as well as the Live Mobile TV app. A reminder of Sony Xperia Tipo's internals.
