Guys, I am planning to buy the x10 mini pro which is currently retailing for Rs 15,369 at flipkart.
I wanted to know if there is a better alternative to this phone in the same price range? I have an upper limit of Rs 16k and a qwerty keyboard would be nice.

Also, could i get a better deal than the one at flipkart?

The Chacha.

I got the mini Pro. Two watchouts, don't get the white one as the keys are a little hard to see when backlight is on in semi-bright lighting. In total darkness or bright sunlight it's fine. Second, the battery life sucks. Worse than my Blackberry, which I thought was bad already. Can't go two days on standby, even with wifi off. With it on, not even a day and a half.

in android u can never expect a battery charge to last a full day let alone 2 days.... even with moderate usage it'll come down to 30%-20% till night time.... UNLESS.. you mod it.. use different kernels or roms which are much more efficient than the stock firmwares...
OR
you get a huge ass MUGEN batteries with 3500Mah or something.. which will make your phone look pregnant with quadruplets :D
ISSUED IN PUBLIC INTEREST :D

Try keeping data off when you don't need it. Also disable background updates. Those are the things that eat most of the battery. If you are on a 2G network, switch off the 3G radio by selecting 2G only in settings.

I used to get less than a day's backup on my zte blade. Now after these changes, it easily lasts over two days.

I do get two days (just about) but that is without a single phone call as the number is not used frequently. If I keep wifi on and enable data through it, it eats a lot of battery. I lost about 15% juice in 20 minutes of downloading stuff over wifi. This is really weak performance IMO.

Not thought about rooting the phone just yet. I need it to go 3 years+ like my Nokia N85 did (though the boxed unit failed 6 times due to a firmware update).

Hmmm..leaving the battery issues aside...how has been your experience with the x10?

You mean the sk17i, right?

1. Forget the onscreen keyboard. Unless you are Taiwanese or a very small Chinese person with very small fingers.

2. The 4-corner nav is hate it or love it. I like it.

3. The sensitivity at screen edges is very low. Requires much harder pressing. Chess games are not fun when you have to move the rooks or anything in those files.

4. The curved back is weird. Takes getting used to in your pocket. Kept the wrong way around... you get the idea.

Otherwise nice phone. There is no slowdown except just after cleaning the memory. The screen is nice enough for a non-AMOLED screen. Little inferior to my older phone in contrast (though colours seem a bit richer, and the pixel density is better) but can get by just fine. Guess it's a bit better if rooted.

For 15k, can't really complain. I paid 15k all in, at my neighborhood mobile store. You can probably score it for 14k, I saw some ebay deals for 13.8 or close enough.

I would suggest you HTC Cha Cha. This QWERTY phone is made by HTC and has very tight integration with facebook and has a dedicated button for facebook. It has a screen size of 2.6 with a resolution of 480 x 320. The HTC Cha Cha runs on a 600 Mhz processor and also has 2 camera the front facing VGA for video chat and the rear facing 5 MP with LED flash, the battery capacity is 1250 mAh, on the connectivity front it has the standard features that you can expect on a Android phone like WiFi b/g/n, 3G (7.2 Mbps), bluetooth 3 with A2DP and GPS.
