Just spoke to mediahome.in. I'm interested in a couple of pieces. If we can get 18 more people interested in these new bad-boys from SoundMAGIC, they can arrange for them within a few days. One year warranty of course.

Please note that this is the latest offering from SoundMAGIC. From what I've heard, these are far more impressive than the PL-30s. This price is a special offer and will go up later.

^^ I doubt that. Most single balanced armature drivers dont have a lot of bass but have more trebble and detail.

@taher - Dude these retail for about $55 !!!! Thats almost 2500 bucks for them and you want them shipped to India and with warranty for 1500 ?????? Dream on ! I believe 2100 bucks for these is damm good considering these are supposed to be much better than the PL-30.

Thanks BF1983 :)

I am actually really satisfied with the bass of PL30, are the PL50s going to be better in terms of bass when compared to PL30s ?

^^probably not in terms of magnitude of bass

armature types usually suffer in that respect, like the UE super.fi-3 which were one of the cheapest of the kind

thanks for the info:).......and sorry for my ignorant post;)

but are they thrice good...coz they they cost thrice as much.....
i know the difference in quality of a good set of phones and a better wont be that significant than a cheap compred to a good pair....but my query is are they better enough to justify a 1400 rs odd difference..

well, for the moment i would say its twice the price since amarbir's current pricing of 750 for pl-30 is a special pre-order price. let us see if he sustains it over a long period. he hasn't indicated that yet. i myself am doubtful given the global pricing for pl-30s. if he does, it would be great news.

^^ Thats the problem with audio. You get diminishing returns once you start spending. Before the PL-30s, there was nothing good in that price range. Now with the PL-50s it will sound better but not thrice as good.

When you wish to spend more, you have to take into account your preffered sound signature. For instance I doubt these will have more bass than the PL-30 so bass lovers should avoid these. For those who like detail and trebble however, these will make the PL-30 sound bad !

And better is very relative in terms of audio. I have heard some 1 lakh speakers that I could not stand because they had tremendous trebble that gave me a headache while my dad just loved them ! (Thankfully we could not afford them so we didnt get them ! ) :)

@taher - Dude there is no reason to apologize ! This a forum where we should be free to speak our mind. In any case the official price is not out yet so I could be very wrong about the $55 price. :ashamed:

yeah vb86...amarbir's current pricing of 750 for pl-30 is a special pre-order price and i am mad coz i missed it...but then if u see mediahome's offer..combo of e3(425 by amarbir) and pl30's (750 by amarbirs)...1199 is the same price...in fact, if anyone is interested to by the e3's...i will give a better offer for it than either one coz i want the pl30's alone!!

That's probably because as we get older, we lose our hearing sensitivity (particularly higher frequencies), which is probably why the high treble was too much for your more sensitive hearing, but compensated enough for your dad.
