Hi Guys,

I was getting frustrated with my download rig being an eye-sore with its flashy color and with its plain bland look. So i decided to hunt for a solution to make it look better(also, to appetize he modding beast within :P ). Looking for spray cans all over the city, I was about to lose hope for it when I got to know about a dealer who can provide us with the spray cans of various colors which can help us to paint our cabinets the way we like. I am thinking of getting some stencils made of some logos like of skull candy and some tribal tattoo designs which will add the funk to our beloved rigs.

I've been quoted, for AT LEAST 20 CANS of the paint for Rs.356 each. I plan to have for myself 2 of these. I'm free from college for a few days so if any body is interested, do reply in the thread and I'll arrange the shipping.

Colors available: Black, White, Red, Green, Silver, Gold.

Quality wise they were good as per the tests done by me on a metallic piece.

Also available, the masking tape for Rs. 65 per piece for a ~30 meters roll.

If there is a stencils... i might be interested....

and are these cans refillable? I might take Red, White and Gold... and 3 masking tapes...
 
The dealer says that if the surface is mildly smoothened with a little of sanding from the sand paper, it can be durable. The paint is made from acrylic and the grip of the paint looked sturdy to me at least. I would also like to add that before buying these, you should do your own research about spray paints. I would not be responsible if you are not very accustomed with the idea of spray painting.

Also, I do not have any stencils for now but I plan to get them made from a shop that makes tape numbers for vehicle registration plates.

For the moment, I have this skullcandy stencil of the logo which I got with the Headphones.:hap2:

used it to paint some chrome parts on my car matte black. Since the base surface was chrome ( i had sanded it down a bit) , the paint did get rubbed away at a few scratches, but it stuck better than I hoped for. Its still there :)
 
meh, I'm too lazy :P

Besides, I dont think that this GO would work at all. Couriers will not touch anything flammable, and spray paint cans are a prime example. Learnt it from a t-bhp deal which went bad , and the paint was one of the issues.

PS: as long as we're on the topic of spray painting, better learn to do it right. how far to keep the nozzle away from the surface, how fast to move the can etc.

Too much and your paint will be blown into the air instead of the surface

Too close and you will get drips/orange peel.

Best option would be to do a lot of coats, spaced at least 5 minutes apart. Search for howto videos on youtube :P

I think vinay got it from the same place I did. I believe he is out of station now. try checking with him anyway. He isnt afraid to ship stuff like I am :P
