I regularly go through the market section threads just for the purpose of gaining data so that I could suggest some good practices. When members post ad, generally all have there own format and this creates confusion. I have seen members asking same questions from sellers, sending PMs for sothe data that should be there in the selling post. If we standardize a template, members can just follow the sequence and search will be very easy as data will be organized. Every one will know where to find what. With due respect to everyone, I just thought to propose a format that members can either cut n paste or when then open a new thread to sell, this template automatically opens

Product Name:
Company URL & ebay link (if any):
Purchase Price & Price Expected: (Fixed/Negotiable)
Date of Purchase:
Bill & Original Box Available:
Accessories included:
Warranty status: (Company/self testing warranty)
Reason for sale:
Product Condition:
Selling Location:
Payment Options: (COD/DD/NEFT etc)
Shipping Options n Charges:
Member References:
Comments: (any issues with products, product highlights etc)
Image:

Members may suggest and comment on this and lets see if you can implement this. This is just for everyones convenience

Yes it would be easier if all details are there in some format...

Like in many Posts its written "looking for local Buyers" but location of owner is not mentioned...

+1 to that .I dont see a reason to change the market section. Its fine than before let it be the way it is .TE doesn't mean only market section there is lot more.People are joining TE just for gaining access to TE and pull scams .Damn miss those old days of spamming :(

Which ones? Seems like a simple way to remind folks to post pictures.. they still don't :|
OTOH, no one seems to be using the template in the buying advice forum either.. and either people are not reporting that, or the mods aren't concerned about it

I guess similar approach is there at "E" in it's member's market section.

Something like this can be put as a sticky in market section, just same as "Suggest a PC" template available in PC buying section.

but I doubt who would follow it. I see hardy some peeps follow "suggest a PC" template.

Comparing TE to E is the stupidest thing you can do .If you want some thing like E in TE ,then move to E .

Why would you want to impose stringent rules in TE when market section is a part of TE and not TE a part of market section .As stalker mentioned people should first learn posting images in FS thread.I am reporting more threads these days than posting in forums.

I think this is not a stringent rule ... just a way to make sure a buyers gets all info in one go. Whats the use if a seller posts a thread and forgets one point and now the buyers asks the same question and then the seller corrects /replies. If they follow the tempelate, this will just help them to remember what all is needed. The ones they dont want to mention, they can put N/A etc

^^If you still havent got it, they are pointing at you for not posting proper pics in your market thread :P

I have lost the count of how many of your threads I have trashed or closed or edited out because of lack of proper pics as per our rule.

Here is my simply opinion.

If you really want to sell your product, there is 1 time effort needed to properly represent your item on forums or anywhere else.

Take proper pics, post reasonable price, condition, description that is concise , easy to understand and as per the existing rules. If you can do that, it will go long way in helping you get a quick sale at reasonable price.

I suggest all sellers have their location city in profile. There is no need of template for that.

And even on E if you see, people still prefer writing their own descriptions as just having this template is like having a advert in a classified section. It lacks personal touch which I honestly would prefer any day if I am buying an item from another individual. Specially second hand item.

Same goes for buying advice.

Template is given so that it will help the OP to get proper advice.

But most of the times, simple 2 sentences are enough to tell you someone's requirement. There is no need for template many times. And we honestly would not go around deleting buying advice threads because they are not as per the template provided. ITs there to help the OP, if he thinks he can put forward his requirements in better way, let him be.

Maybe one can take a look into some of my sale threads? :gap:

But yeah a simple template always helps. And if materialised, it should be in such a way that the user should be unable to post the sale thread unless all the sections are aptly filled. For instance, one of the options should be - 'Upload 2 snaps of the product with the TE user ID and date' and then the user should manually upload them - the resolution of the photo should be not more than 800 x 600 or limited by space. Unless one does that, he should not be able to post a thread. May require some coding/programming or whatever it is called, but once implemented, it should go a long way.

But we do not need so many options as given in the first post.

.
I have seen many posts without location and some location given thats out of this world! And BANG! the very first questiion in such posts is "whats yr location" ..... even while making a search, if i want to search with location as prime pointer, search yields no results. My template or no template is not a question here, its just a starting point, my idea is to brainstorm and find a basic form that avoids creation of unnecessary traffic.

MOD/ADMIN should make it compulsory to edit or add proper location.

Also my suggestion is that with every TITLE seller should add their location at the start or end of the title.

normally whenever i browse market section i always look inside the thread for products location and the worst part is some sellers dont even mention their location buyers have to ask for the same

Yes thats a good idea, in the thread header itself user should put location and price if single item, this attracts many users as not every one opens all threads and reads everything. For eg:
Hynix 2GB DDR2x1 Mumbai 1500INR ... in this member can add any thing small that attracts buyers like "in warranty", "Price Drop", "Brand new" etc

guess what... i just made my template format Open Source... !!! :P :P

http://www.techenclave.com/members-market/misc-items-cpu-mobo-ram-hdd-167806.html

Quote the Post to get format and you are free to edit it the way you want.

it surely was PITA for the 1st time i mede it but after that it is all copy paste and fill in the blanks job.

Also as shripad put forward, a personal touch and some way or other to put forward the things in a way that people understand is always welcome.

if a person can explain things very well regarding all relative aspects such as location, reason, etc etc then we surely do not require enforcement of templates and formats.

PS: No intentions to promote my sale :P
