saw this being discussed at another forum and thought it would have interesting here as well ..

do any of you keep backup pieces of hardware (spare ram , vid card) so that in case anything goes wrong (heaven forbid) on your main rig you have a back up device to use while you get the faulty part replaced ?

6 months back with my AXP i sorta had.. RAM, graphics card, mobo, 2 CPUs n all ;).. eventually i sold them all.. not with my present rig though.. i have a back-up plan shud anything go wrong.. ;)

Nothing at all,if something will break up,i just need to give a call or order it online, next day its at the front door, you pay the postman & its yours.

Well for me there is nothing to loose.
No backup hardware except my old 64MB Ram if in case my 256MB ram shud go.

Dont ask me my Rig as u will laugh at it.
I havent changed my PC since 5Years

have an old GFX card, HDD, Ethernet Card, old modem, ball mouse, old P4+HSF, local PSU and a host of cables...
most of it is cos of upgrades and inability to get a decent price on selling...

I have lots of backup.
1 complete P4 system plus following.
Current backup hardware: 1 A64 3200+, 512MB transcend, 1LG 17" Monitor, GF3 ti 200, 3 cabinets, 1 x 450 watt starnet PSU, a mouse and keyboard, 40GB PATA HDD, A DVD ROM, very old iomega CD RW, Dlink 56k modem, 2 Gigabit Lan cards.

mmm.. nothing :P recently my 4 yr old 40 gb hdd crapped out... am on a borrowed 8gb hdd/dad's lappie.... am not gonna get anything till my mini :(

I have two desktops at home. Guess one of them can be qualified as a backup system.

Also have some spare fans, old cd rom drives, a heatsink and a power supply-most of these are old stuff.
