Storage Solutions Strange optical drive problem...

I have LG GH20NS10 DVD writer..but suddenly it stopped working in windows 7..
It reads CD but for DVDs it just keeps blinking the light and in the end its unable to read any DVD.
But i got OSX installed and the DVD writer works absolutely fine in OSX and reads all media even the badly scratched one.

So what might be the problem ?? Is this firmware or driver related issue ?? or some windows update error ??

Strange problem is that Dual layer DVDs work :-/

but it works on xp and mac osx...had it been cable problem it wouldn't have work anyway
