Storage Solutions Suggest 2TB Internal Hard drive

Currently i m having 160 GB internal Segate HDD
+ 1 TB external WD my essential
want new HDD for movie and song
want cost effective in term of capital as well as operating
As segate has lower price around 6.5 k i want to go for it
please guide me:)

^ How reliable is the Seagate HDD ? From what i read WD is giving problems to users in the near past.

Apparently even Seagate 2TB drives seem to fail and at times being DOA. :P

As such the present batch of 2TB drives from both Seagate and WD are lemons - I mean every other drive is either composed of bad sectors or are DOA. Lucky I got mine from udit with a 5 year warranty and works without issues.

Today i bought 2 tb Seagate HDD from ABGB (Rs. 5600):)
But total space shows only 1860 gb:S
Also brought Logitech wireless keyboard+ mouse (Rs. 1200):)
Any question u people wanted to ask pls don’t hesitate:)

Seagate SATA 2TB Hard Drive ST32000542AS

specification was inferior though

5900rpm

16ms seek time..

kind of a green drive it is.

but anyways.. who care about performance when it is just a storage drive for most of us :P

although 64MB cache would have been better i feel.
 
Sorry to steal your thread OT but,

Would it then be better to get 2 1TB instead of 1 2TB?

I need to buy new HDDs on saturday. Im getting 1TB Black was thinking of getting a 2TB green until I read this.

@Desecrator: 2TB with 5 year warranty. How come? And which brand?

Belongs to the older lot of 2 TB drives. Thus it came with a 5 year warranty. ;)

I really doubt it. even i was looking for the same but cant find it.
How is the After Sales support of Hitachi here?(Also who handles it?)

for disk Manufactures’ 1k = 10^3. not 2^10

hope this clears your doubt.

If the 2TBs are failing so much then is it wise to get them? I do have 3 SATA slots and 4 HDD slots (have 5.25->3.5 converters) left.
 
I bought 3 1TB greens and a 1TB portable. Since there are enough ports nothing much to worry about.
Should last me a year
