Laptops Suggest a Lappy

Ok ill be straight and to the point. I need to pick up a lappy in about a week or so.
My main usage for this lappy would be live giging and production purposes, so basically i need a stable lappy, graphic/etc are not really that important i dont intend to game on it.Need a machine which can process fast and has sufficient RAM to handle my audio applications and which does not break down middle of a show :@

Btw the audio applications ill be running are :
Ableton Live/Fruity Loops/ Cubase

I need something stable fair enough, Ive heard a lot about the new HP series, user feedback on the battery would be appreciated which is however going to be connected to a power source always.

My choice-Dell 1525 should do?
any Inspiron user could shed some light!
P.S- Please do not suggest a MacBook/MBP, i know it is teh shit but im looking for an alternative :). Id prefer to keep it under 50k

The Inspiron 1525 is a good one. My friend striked a deal for 40k shipped from Dell direct. :)

Has a T5800 processor, 3 gigs of RAM, 250GB HDD, X3100 IGP, 6 cell battery.

For 40k I dont think we could ask for more. :P

Alternately, I would also suggest you to take a look into the Studio 15 series. For 45k, this one has a notch better graphics and a 320GB HDD. Rest of the specs're more or less the same. Pretty much under 50k. I'd prefer this over the 1525. :)

Dont forget to bargain with the Dell reps.

+1 to the Dell Studio 15 !!!

Else there's the cheaper Inspiron 1525 that will easily meet your requirements...

I've seen the 1525 in action and it's a pretty good deal !

Like I told U, if you want it for really mobile usage, parties etc where you never kno who gets drunk n spills stuff all over :bleh:, ur ONLY option is models from Dell with completecover warranty for complete piece of mind :)

Now i have a question regarding picking it up locally, does the Dell Outlet at NP be able to arrange this for me or this is just for online buy?

If you can wait, any dealer will be able to arrange it for you ;) + you can bargain with the dealer for a better price (ONLY after u ve tried bargaining with dell reps too so u know realistic price they offer ;))

Dell outlet might not bargain much., So try all 3 options n get whoever is cheapest ;)

^^ I agree..now since you don't seem to be too fussy about the incidental benefits like Build, size, screen quality and other intangibles, your selection criteria is essentially dictated by the quality of warranty and support

IMO, Supportwise, Apple>Dell>HP/Compaq >>>> Acer/Sony

Also, complete cover, AFAIK is available only on dell systems

Having said that, portability may be a important factor given your needs so a XPS 1330 may turn out to be a good choice

My friend'd picked up a Studio 15 incher recently but with a 160GB hard drive and the rest of the basic specs.

Pretty good. Found it better than the Inspiron 1525, looks-wise and performance-wise.

As already suggested, get a Dell Complete Cover. Peace of mind. :D

Picked up this today

Sony - VAIO

after really looking into Dell/HP for a while i must say, the build quality of VAIO just rocks.

HP- I dint get the config i wanted

Dell- almost zeroed on the studio but the real time experience was a dud, i found Dell to be of so bad build quality. No offense to neone :)

With this new VAIO it solves my purpose well and i would recommend it to nebody with a budget of abt 60k

OKay, i might have something here for you Sanil.. A friend's friend bought an Inspiron 1525 from the Nehru Place Dell dealer with Linux ( NO windows or charges for that) and with a decent config of 3GB and 250GB HDD.. M not sure about the processor, but he got a really good deal from the NP dealer and got the discounts too, which are a product of bargaining. He got the laptop hand to hand at that dealer, without much wait time. A good deal and almost immediate delivery with some customization options which are not available online are there at these Dell stores ( Like no windows and some other things).. And this was about 4 days back, so you might be lucky to strike a good deal too!

EDIT: Oops, ddnt see your post about the Vaio.. anyway, congratz!
