Try the lenovo 3000 G410. costs 22k in delhi and is a 1.86 celeron, 80GB HDD, 512 MB RAM, CD/DVD writer, 14" screen. more than enough for your needs.

Acer 4720Z cost effective, decent power, santa rosa intel dual core processor, 14", all latest features (cr. bt. wlan, web cam) @29000,

I am looking for anything below 25K. Also if it does not have preloaded OS then its fine... But if it does have a preloaded OS then i would only prefer XP :)

for your requirements anything below a dual core would be more than enough. AMD laptops would give better bang for buck though. and the lenovo at 22k will fit into ur budget.

i live in delhi.... but the basics r the same. visit showrooms if u want indepth coverage on a brand but don't buy frm there. prices at showrooms are higher. and they provide no special after sales service which is given directly frm the service centres. visit as many different showrooms as possible. and once you have made your choice do put them up here so that ppl can comment on them -- the products ie. or if u don't want to travel so much then (hey there must be some electronic hub in mumbai too!) just head for a multi-brand store. good luck.
