Need suggestions for good quality and comfortable formal shoes for my younger brother who works in a hotel / resort. He needs to wear them for average 10 hours per day and his job involves moving from one location to another within the hotel.
Please suggest which brand should he go for ? Need something which will last for longer time given his usage pattern.

I owned a pair of Hush Puppies, lasted me over 6 years of regular use. Pricey, but well worth the price.

I have these, they are very comfortable to wear. Not sure about the long lasting part as I have had been for only a few months and don't wear them that much.

Yeah one more thing i remember him saying. Only shoes with laces are allowed, no slip ons. But will confirm once.

Edit: Yeah laces only. Also he was mentioning about some oxford style shoes. I have no idea what that is.

why not wear the slipons which has the fake laces :P

one common advice is not to wear the same shoe for the whole day but to change every 5 hours or so , will change pressure points and lessen pain,

Oxford pattern shoes? These are considered formal shoes with a stitched pleat on the top towards toe area. Refer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxford_shoe
All top brands will have these kind of shoes in their product line. I would suggest shoes from Hush Puppies/Liberty, because I have been using these two brands for more than 6 years. My latest pair of Hush Puppies are running for last three years with everyday office use. I wear these for 8 - 10hrs. a day (movement is less of course). I feel Hush Puppies are more comfortable than Liberty. Make sure that the shoes have adequate cushioning.[DOUBLEPOST=1369808994][/DOUBLEPOST]If you go to http://www.bata.in/webbata/faces/jsp/brandSummary.jsp?catalogueID=2&categoryID=597&topParent=262&brandId=15&bnm=Hush Puppies&brandCmsFlag=Y then following three models are likely to fit your need: HPO2-Flex(824-6803,824-6603) and GE-Brogue(824-6979). I suggest that you go to a Bata store and try out these three models. Though City Bounce models are much more comfortable, these may not fit your requirement.

Use hush puppies . They are slightly expensive but very comfortable . I use them on a daily basis . Sometimes interchanged with a pair of full black Nike air .

He can use any Formal shoe with lace just ask him to replace the insole with Dr Scholl's Gel/Massaging ones. You can find these insoles on almost all shoe outlets these days.

None of the formal shoe will be comfortable as that of Hush Puppies :D

I own a shoe store, and i know very well, Close your eyes, and go for Hush Puppies, they are also little bit sober in look.

Inner lining + cushioning is 10/10

Any specific recommendation for hush puppies. I mean the model or whatever. Or is it personal choice types ?
Do Hush puppies have the oxford style shoes ?

go to showroom, and try them and choose accordingly, regarding oxford model, i really dont know whether they are available in hush puppies or not.

If your budget is little bit low, you can try Egoss shoes too, they are also good in quality :d

All the three models that I had suggested in my earlier reply are variants of Oxford styles. The closest one is the GE-Brogue(824-6979). I know because I work in a formal environment - here as well as in Europe.

Try Egoss shoes - very comfortable leather formal shoes with PU soles and not very expensive (2k-3k). The pair have lasted me 18 months after having waded through water logged streets in Bombay for 3 months and are still going strong.
