Hello,

I will soon be having a 24"Dell LCD monitor.. but I am not sure if my mother board will be able to support such resolution without a graphics card..

As I dont play games :hap5: , but I am looking for a decent card, which can play movies etc and support resolutions upto 1920x1200 & is a decent card, and can support two monitors.. & makes less noise.. & has a decent driver support (linux etc)

I was thinking to take 7600GS or GT please advice

:hap2:

Something like a GeForce 8500 would be great for you. Its quite cheap, has good linux support, and will be a big help while watching HD movies :D

HD2400XT & HD2600XT are better than 8500GT & 8600GT for movies but ATI has poor Linux Support

so buy HD2400XT or HD2600XT if you give movies more priority than Linux :)

go for the ati 2600xt if not a 8600gt they both help in taking of the load from the cpu.also make sure the card has HDCP graphics card like galaxy 8600gt has HDCP.

ATI's HD 2600XT and nVidia's 8600 GT/S are more than enough for driving a 24" LCD for entertainment (non-gaming) purposes. ;) So yeah, get either, depending on which is cheaper where you live, etc. :)
