Suggest Graphics card & Psu for my rig in 14k

Finally have to go for some graphic card at last... as my onboard Ati3300hd is taking a huge toll on my dear rams.

My rig:
AMD Phenom II X3 720,
Biostar TA790GX A3+
Corsair XMS3 DDR3 2*4gb
500gb ST and 320gb WD sata3
MoserBaer DvdRW
Dell ST2220M Led
Altec lancing vs4121,
Logitech kb and M100 mouse
Cooler Master 500w Extreme + Zebronics gold 400w
Zebronics Antibiotic casing

Suggest me an Ati series 6xxx or 7xxx within budget of 9.5k max. I heard that 7 series is very low on power consumption so suggest accordingly. I dont care much about those eye candy game effects and AA etc. I simply game at lower resolutions (1280) with best default stock effects and play games like nfs, cod, crysis, moh, battlefield etc. type.... (in short apart from simulation and strategy i play all types ;))
Now I have decided to update my psu too...finally a major upgrade for good :doh:So suggest within 4k mark.

Also open for any used n within warranty stuffs from te members.

@nRiTeCh these are the cards you can look at --

AMD HD 6770 1GB ~7200/-
AMD HD 6750 1GB ~6500/-
AMD HD 7750 [800MHz] ~7500/-

Try to contact the dealers in the Dealer's Paradise for better and more up-to-date pricing as well as brands which are available.

Also check this deal going on, someone is selling his HD 6850 at an agreeable rate --> http://www.techenclave.com/sell-trade-products/msi-6850-a-135718/.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!!

Ok but how about power req. for the used msi 6850? I hope it will run without bottlenecking my setup on my psu.
Also what about the rest 6770 and 7750? Will they too perform better on my psu?

I never ever OC any gfx card and dont even think about it as i dont need to do it ever. I enjoy them at stock.

If all is well I'm ready to but either or them.

7k was my max budget, still if theres any more 7 series choice between 5k to 7k then too let me know. :)
Thx for the help guys :)

The HD 6850 will be happy with the power supplied by 1x PCIe power connector [75W] that is present on the Cooler Master eLite Power Pro; same is the case with the HD 6770.

The HD 6750 and HD 7750 do not require a dedicated power adapter for there needs, they draw all their power from the PCIe slot they are placed in.

I am sorry but most of these cards start ~7500/- [the HD 7750 and HD 6770]. Earlier before the financial upheaval and the Rupee tanking vis-a-vis the $ the HD 6770 under optimistic situations could be had for as little as ~6500/-.

The only card that shall fulfill your requirements as well as fall in your budget squarely is the AMD HD 6750 ~6500/-. But I suggest that you try to go for the AMD HD 7750 OR the AMD HD 6850 from the deal thread.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!!

@ALPHA17: thanx a lot mate for the valuable suggestions. I will try to get 7750 or 6850 a new one though. Lets see. @chiragsthakur: no no mate I wont even think about that. Zebby psu is just for taking care of system cooling stuff like fans and neon things.

@nRiTeCh a new HD 6850 1GB will set you back by ~8800/-. And if you are spending that much, it will be a better bet to go for the AMD HD 7770 GHz edition ~9000/-.

If a new card is what you absolutely need, then buy these cards [ordered from least t o most priority] --
AMD HD 6770 ~7500/-
AMD HD 7750 ~7300/-
AMD HD 6750 ~6500/-

Hope this helps, Cheerio!!

If you can increase your budget to get a new 6850 then its worth it. Coz other cards like 6770 etc below 6850 are 128bit cards, whereas 6850 is 256bit.

But as Alpha17 has suggested, if you are tight on budget then 6770/7750 will be good choice.

one last query...shall i get 1gb memory variants of either of the cards or are there lower and even higher options to choose from?

1gb has now become a must have memory for GFX cards. Most gaming cards above 5k mark carry minimum 1gb of graphics memory.

There is not much cost difference between 512mb and 1gb variant of low end cards

You might get 1.5gb, 2gb, 3gb and higher memory with high end cards which are costly.

IMO, even on 1920x1080 barely 1gb is used by gfx card, in your case you are going to game at much lower resolutions, so 1gb is huge enough for you.

As the resolutions goes on increasing, the memory requirement rises.

Anything more than 1GB is useless for you, until and unless you are not buying a HD 78** OR higher card.

Graphics memory [V-RAM] has these purposes whilst gaming --
  • a frame buffer for storing finished frames before they are displayed on the monitors.
  • the V-RAM also acts like an unpacking area for textures, so a texture that is fully uncompressed looks better. But for this to happen the GPU must have the power to push that many pixels and polygons on the display unit, something which cards below the HD 6850 simply cannot do.

This is a classic tactic that most third-party retailers do, use huge amount of cheaper GDDR3 in place of GDDR5 this not only inflates their profit margins, it also results in the typical Indian mindset of 1GB video-card OR 2GB video card; definitely the latter is better [90% of gullible Indian computer owners].

Hope this explains the situation, Cheerio!!

Until you are playing BattleField 3 on Ultra-settings on a multi-monitor setup OR The Witcher 2 with Ãœber-Sampling turned on. [OR you are rite] :ohyeah:

Again depending on the game engine and its optimisation level 1GB V-RAM may OR may-not be enough. Resolution plays a part but not always, once multi-monitor and Eyefinity set-ups creep in, it is necessary to have huge frame buffers and texture un-compression space at hand. But on a 20" screen even 1GB will be enough for medium --> high settings.

Guys I have fixed on MSI R7750-PMD1GD5/OC @ Rs.6,615/- on SMC LINK HERE but it isnt available at the moment.
May be i'm too late for this steal deal :(. Is this card available anywhere for similar pricing? Prime and itwares as always dont stock such stocks.

Also i guess HD 6770 performs much better than 7750 but is a bit higher on power sides. So may opt for that too.

Else shall i try nvidia flavour? But i dont think it will go well with my amd setup...:|

Good option will be HD6770-6.6k as it performs better than HD7750 it's within your budget,The Amd HD7770-8.4k beats Nvidia Gtx550ti-8.5k by far and HD7750 gives almost same performance so no need to go nvidia way,Grab HD6770 it'll be enough.http://www.theitwares.com/sapphire-...y-crossfirex-support-graphic-card-p-2257.html

^^ @Jakob : Thats a 6670 link you posted
@nRiTeCh We were suggesting a used 6850 by considering your CM power supply. So running 6770 is not an issue. Give me a day, I will let you know if 6770 can be made available at some good price

---------- Post added at 09:11 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:09 AM ----------

Have you bought anything from those sites? Are they reliable? Do they ship to India? Your personal experience please

Here is the latest prices on the SMC International site page itself --> MSI.

The prices,
MSi HD 7750 1GB ~6800/-
MSi HD 6770 1GB [830 MHz core clock] ~6600/-

Factor in the $ doldrums and still the HD 7750 will come around ~7500/- and a HD 6770 for ~7200/-.

Currently the AMD HD 6770 will outperform the former but if using the MSi Afterburner utility you can push the core-clock on the HD 7750 to 900MHz then the performance of the two will level out, over time with better driver maturity I expect the HD 7750 to overtake the HD 6770 in performance [although real-world difference will be not very noticeable].

The power consumption of the HD 6850 and HD 6770 [re-branded HD 5770] are extremely frugal [require only 1 xPCIe power connector] and can be easily handled by your eXtreme Pro SMPS [at the cost of overall operational efficiency].

The only option(s) you have in the sub-7000/- category for nVidia are --
nVidia GTS450 ~6500/- [gets trumped by both the HD 6770 as well as the HD 7750]
nVidia GT440 ~5500/- [competes with HD 6670]
nVidia GT430 ~5000/- [competes with HD 5670 and is weaker]

Honestly no point going for any of the nVidia cards in the low-end, simply put they suck and cannot compete with their AMD counterparts.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!!
