Galvanizer
My budget is upto max 8.5k and will be buying it tomorrow itself but only if you guys guide me promptly here. :)

Usage: all purpose.--gaming/surfing/movies
Preferred brands: dell, benq & samsung
Stores: prime, itwares, local lammy, smc

Also, should i go really opt for hdmi as per future scope? Or without hdmi should serve me well?
So accordingly, shall i compromise on led and go for lcd just for the hdmi thing?:S

LED backlight not really needed go for one for the above suggested , totally vfm Monitor .

^^ BenQ E2222HD is what you should aim for -- LED back-lit TN panel with HDMI out ~ 8500/- [around 8800/- once you add the taxes].

I have decided to go for dell st2220L from smc.

My question is now, what if i receive the monitor as a doa?

Can i directly contact dell for replacements? Does dell offers on-site warranty?

any performance advantage of led over the normal backlit monitor?

Better brightness and average contrast [the constant contrast, not dynamic contrast of the monitor]. Also LED has better power consumption stats, hope this helps, Sire.

Yes I think you'll get covered if the D.O.A. piece is delivered by Dell themselves OR other reliable IT / Tech sites, they should replace on-site without issues.
