Surfing / Download Issues

I formatted my HDD and installed Win XP. Am facing this problem now. When i am downloading some software/music if i try and go to any site it says server not found.

It just seems as if the whole bandwidth i sbeing utilised in the d/l..

Then when i stop the d/l i am able to surf. Sometime i need to disconnect the modem and connect it again to be able to surf.

Any solution??
 
use a downloader like mass downloader in which you can specify the max speed of download.

for eg if you usually get 30KBps then u can limit the download to 20KBps and use the 10KBps for surfing...

Mass downloader is truly a gr8 software... i started using it and havent thought abt another software...
