A lot of the newbies who are ineligible to post in the market section are advertising their requirements in their sigs and others asking for "what would be a good deal for XXXX item which i'm planning to sell"

Not that I'm accusing everyone of bypassing the rules. there have been a few incidents, and even I'm not sure if they are genuine or not , so havent used the report post option.

Wouldn't it be better if a clear cut rules be added about such a scenario?

Spot on .. Since thse deals wud never even have posted on TE Market section TE wudnt be responsible for them in the slightest of manner though ..
But this kinda threads shudnt be allowed ..

Been reporting them ever since I saw the start to sprout up all over the place. Don't think the mods are bothered with these threads.

Have only seen 2~3 such incidents, so don't think its necessary to expand the already huge list of rules.. and c'mon who reads the rules?! :ohyeah: In such threads once they get their suggestions, if they make any attempts at selling.. the posts are deleted and threads locked/trashed.

In any case, its upto members to use their head and not deal outside the Market section. If instead people still choose to ignore our warning - caveat emptor :)

I dont mind reporting these posts, but they violate only the spirit of the market rules, not the letter. so its kinda a gray area. Newbies can complain that we're being arbitrary - there are also senior members who post such threads ( but they dont need to bypass the market section anyway :P )

from a newbie's POV, his actions might seem to be in a grey area. so deleting them without giving a reason might seem arbitrary to them. Thats why i said that an addition to the rules/clarification was needed

I'm not blaming or pointing fingers anyone.coolcowboy, you have not violated any of the existing rules. I'm just asking for clearer rules and guidelines so that folks can be aware and act accordingly :)
