System keeps on shutting down!

Adept
I have installed XPsp2

If i'm running webages with winamp in the background with 1/2 other applications in the background the system shuts down.

WHen i restart while the icons in the task bar r loading(which takes hell lot of time) the system shuts again.

I observed that when the icons such as gmail notifier, utorrent r getting loaded it takes time to load the QUickheal AV icon and then lastly the broadband connectivity icon, before that the system shuts down.
SOmetimes the blue screen is seen.

FIrefox webpages and apllications also crash frequently,i have 2 restart mozilla FF.

LAstly,i formatted system due to this problem, but after copying files the system has to restart by default, the system shuts down instead.i have to restart for the process to continue.this never happened. How can it happen during formatting?!

Is this a hardware / software/ virus problem?
i do have uptodate QH AV which is licensed & not patched

CAn there be a problem in the SMPs box(power supply)

Pls help!

It could be any problem :) If it gave issues during installation too, it could possibly be a heating issue. It could be a problematic HDD. Have a look inside the box, is your proccy fan clogged? Try running memory diagnostics too (say using a liveCD with memtest86)

I think the problem mite be due to some hardware stuff since it's also occuring during formatting. Just check the cable connections are tight or not. Just remove and refit if needed.
Check again. The SMPS could be a problem but prior to that see what's the CPU utilization during accesing applications. The processor could be a problem since u are getting BSODs and startup lag. Also, try to disable all startup items and see if still the problem persists. If the problem goes off, just keep adding one after one startup item and find out who's the culprit. :)

thanx reped.
i'll do that startup test. & adjusting the wires

i'll get back 2 u all

1. connect bare minimum stuff - if u suspect SMPS might be the problem.
2. disable aut-restart after BSOD's. rarely BSOD might provide some usefull information i.e. driver name.
3. check CPU heatsink and FAN,lt should not be loose.
4. Reset BIOS to default settings.
5. Does this also happen in Windows Safe mode ?

does this happen if you enter bios and leave the PC in that state? (i.e. Stay on BIOS screen), if it does, then definetly hardware issue.
