I am having this problem from the past 2 - 3 days.

It takes ages to open. All other sites open quickly. Only TE takes ages. And many times, the pages dont open at all..... I need to close the window and click on the link again.

I usually search for new posts and keep that window permanent. I select whatever threads I like and Open them in a new window. So, I usually open abt 5-6 new windows..... And then I see, none of them have loaded. and in Firefox, I cant even refresh them coz the address bar is blank.

I need to wait for Firefox to tell me that the page is not found and then retry or Close the window and open the same link in a new window again from the search results.

It is extremely irritating.....
 
The Internet has been slow since yesterday - I checked with friends - some pages and forums are extremely slow and some dont open at all and some are opening at full speed. Since the last 2 hours the speed has picked up a little bit.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - A 7.1 richter earthquake in Taiwan causing major submarine APCN2 cable damage resulting in breakdown to TMnet Malaysia, Advantel, Cable & Wireless Global Network, Cable & Wireless HKT, China Telecom, China Unicom, Chunghwa Telecom, Concert, Global Network Services, Global One, Japan Telecom, KDD Corpe ration, Korea Telecom, KPN, Layer 2, MCI, WorldCom, Metromedia Giber Network Service, NTT Com, NCIC, OneLink Cable Network, PLDT, StarHub, SingTel, Taiwan Fixed Network, Teleglobe, Telstra and Williams Communications.

Local Internet access to overseas websites came to a crawl Wednesday, started at about 3.45am Wednesday, and warned users to expect congestion to and from overseas websites during peak hours and even total downtime.

According to Reuters AlertNet a total of six submarine cables were affected by the earthquake and the Total capacity lost due to the APCN2 S7 damage was estimated at around 7Gbps. Sample latency to the US was 922ms, Hong Kong 45ms, Japan 542ms, Taiwan 304ms, and Korea 1,000ms.

Malaysia maintains a Terminal Station at Segment T2, Kuantan, which is within Segment S2 and represented by TM Berhad. Under the APCN2 specifications, all Segment S are terminal stations equipped with critical terminal equipment, including Network Interface for STM-1, STM-4, STM-16 and STM-64 levels.

Critically, the APCN2 Agreement also provisions that all Segment S must maintain adequate inventory of related spare and standby units and components, which include but not limited to optical amplifiers, BUs (Branching Units), cable lengths, and terminal equipment.

I thought it was my internet or something.....not so...

All other sites open really quickly. Only TE/FE
 
same problem with me ...TE has become damn slow .....i have bought this to XT's notice as well ...dunno whats wrong :(
 
yup my Net is slow too from early today morning ,i thought something wrong with my collection.been Running Anti Spywares all day !! .....

iam on airtel & my net seemed slow today morning when I woke up at 9:30am so I called up Airtel CC & they sent a engineer who said Airtel servers were down from 3:45am to 9:00am today & the net will be slow till 3:00pm Friday due to the Earthquake
 
TE has been working fine for me apart from the occasional delays in posting.
Page load times are fine.

Have forwarded the same to SN and QF. They will check it out and reply.

most of the networks are slow due to undersea cable damage because of yesterday's earthquake. hopefully, things will get back to normal within a day or two. :)
 
actually it won't effect Indian traffic per se. The countries that are affected are in the pacific rim on the Asian block.

Although the traffic routing through alternative means has caused congestion on this side also.

Anyway the issue will take some days to be fixed, so nothing much can be done.

But.....

Why is only TE slow for me ?? I told you.... I am getting good download speeds with other torrents. All other sites open quickly.... only TE/FE..

my friend next door has a airtel connection,its Damn Slow.went & checked out a Few mins Back.looks as though Work is still in progress in some areas.Airtel Bangalore Will Continue to have problems till Tomo Morning

my Tata Indicom is Restored some back & is back to Full shape

my advice wait for some more time
