Threads dealing with security seem to end up in the apps forum - doesn't seem right. TE should have a "Security" and "Miscellaneous" forum.

Mods/Admins please consider.

Thanks.

I second this. Security itself is a big issue now. But if mods think TE is a hardware + gaming forum then probably security does not fit..

its certainly not just a hardware and gaming forum.. in fact we would love to negate that notion. However if we feel (or you prove) that any particular field is generating enough interest, queries and members then we can surely dedicate a section/subsection to that.
We are always open to feedback which would help us expand.

Which is the appropriate section for this thread :
The Tech Report - Firefox gets a taste of malware ?
Firefox is getting its first tastes of malware thanks to a new Trojan Horse that masquerades as an extension for the browser. Security firm McAfee says the Trojan, which is dubbed FormSpy, relies on another Trojan known as Downloader-AXM to download and install itself.
Once downloaded, FormSpy installs itself as a Firefox extension.
The program appears as "NumberedLinks 0.9" extension, McAfee said. The extension normally would allow a user to navigate links by numbers using the keyboard rather than a mouse.
Then, FormSpy can transmit information in a Web browser to another Web site, which could include credit card numbers, passwords, and electronic banking pin numbers, according to McAfee.
Or this one :
Malicious toolbars and extensions try to hijack browsers
Extensions aren't the only things being spoofed. According to SurfControl, a new threat has emerged in the form of an e-mail containing what purports to be a link to download the newest Google Toolbar. Upon clicking the link, the user is sent to a fake web page that looks exactly like the real Google Toolbar download site. However, the download link on this site is actually a trojan designed to turn the user's computer into part of a spam botnet.

@Nik then maybe security is not all in all a topic in itself. Most of the security stuff is application level so that would fit in application and rest would go in networking.

But to generate some interest and new topics Security subsection is a must. And that wont be any waste of space or loss to the forum as such.

now some crytopgraphic news..... comes..will it go in chatterbits??????i guess in network internet section a sub forum can come......since networking and security are more related to each other
