FAQs on the recent TE upgrade - TechEnclave

The topic says it all.

Thank you for your patience over the last 4 days. The upgrade took longer than what we had anticipated but i hope you will end up liking what we have opened up.

We would have a lot more stuff coming over the year including some blockbuster products

Finally, nothing would have been possible hadn't Renegade worked tirelessly on the skin. You can thank him for this upgrade more than anyone else.

You must be wondering what are these enormous changes and why is TE looking so different. So lets jump in straight to the changes that have been done to TE to make your stay even more enjoyable.

List of major changes
  • New Forum - TechEnclave has migrated to Invision Power Boards because of the rich features it has to offer. You will notice them as you start using them or as you read the following post.
  • Homepage portal - The new look forum comes with a new portal for submitting News/Reviews/Guides, complete with a rating and comment system. We will also be posting regular news on various topics so that you don't have to go wander aimlessly for your dose of tech.
  • Classifieds - a completely new way to access the member market on TE. This new section has features which will make trading on TE even more convenient. We will have a testing period so that you get comfortable with the system before we close the member market in forum.
  • Member Map - You can now plot your location on the map. As accurate as your current address of as vague as your city. Others can see where you are from and how many members are there in a city. You can also plot the location of your next TechEnclave meet. The maps are also integrated with the classifieds section in case you want to show where is the product shipping from.
  • LifeStyle Gallery - You all have been clamoring for the rig gallery since ages and we wanted to make up for that. LifeStyle gallery extends beyond the Rig Gallery and gives you a unique experience of sharing your prized possessions. Consider this as an amalgamation of the Rig Gallery and Show Off section.

So whats in it for the old school members? With the movement of market to its dedicated section, the tech enthusiasts can now focus solely on tech discussions on the forum.

List of minor changes
  • Mod notifications - Now you will get inline notifications for all the 'unfair' and 'biased' action on your valuable posts. You will get notifications when your thread or post gets closed, approved, moved or deleted. But first you must setup your notifications as described below.
  • Tag Members - You can now tag members in a post by mentioning their username prefixed with a '#'. Those members will get notification that someone mentioned them. For example if I want to draw Safin's attention to this thread I will simply say.. #safin please have a look here. The member however will only get a notification if he has enabled it.

What you must do first to start enjoying the new look TE.

Click on the bell icon next to the sign out button and then click on options. Configure the options to your liking so that you get inline notifcations for all the critical activities like when your posts get deleted, when someone quotes your post or when someone comments on your LifeStyle Gallery.

Still not enough? We have the following lined up for the coming months.
  • An integrated classifieds feedback system. Unfortunately we could not bring in itrust but we will definitely keep the previous feedback count intact when we do. This is expected by March 2012
  • Something to keep the Auto Zone enthusiasts entertained
  • More to come...
 
Random Tips - Some tips to get your started on the new features. There are of course many new functionalities and features which may seem confusing at first but you will love them as you discover them.

Just click on the icon next to No replies and disable them instantly. Click on the icon next to it to enable it.

Personal Conversation

No need to add every member individually every time you reply to multiple recipients. You can now add upto 5 members in a conversation. Think of this as your personal closed group thread of 5 members.

You can now keep track of all your sale items through one central place called My Classifieds. You can access this from your userCP dropdown on the top right of the forum. Same applies for LifeStyle Galleries.

Because the topic will come up sooner or later, a few clarifications

1. Some of you might be seeing reduce PM space. If yes, bring to our notice via feedback

2. Dealers, we will restore your privileges soon.3

3. Reputation system has been replaced and a new system has been put in place.

4. If you notice bugs, bring to our notice. Things will be broken and it will take some time for all the stuff to settle down.
 
I'm too new here to notice any change, but i can add it looks more lively.

The members market is still there like it was. The classifieds section is a completely new section. They both will coexists for some time so that the members get used to it.

I suggest that you use the classifieds for any future sale items as soon the members market will be closed permanently.

How do you know if the tagging is working?
 
I meant how do I know if the right person is tagged? does that mean I need to know the exact username with case?
 
Nice look, but the new posts thing is too complicated, IMO. Or maybe it is me, might get used to it

Just post in the bug thread. We will look into it by tomorrow night.

Edit - I think you need to make a post before you get to see the members market. Just one post should do.
