Had been waiting for this since there were leaked screenshots and specs of the Dell XPS 13. Looks like its been officially launched in the US for $1199 as Dell Studio XPS 1340. Can't wait to get my hands on it but the Dell India Helpline says that its still not launched here.

saw that on engadget a while back. have been in touch with the xps tech support regarding some issues with my 1330. they didnt have any updates on the 1340. apparently he had updates on alienware. he said that they would launch here within 3 months. then again, thats what he said. so, im not sure.

So Finally XPS`s budget gaming laptop image is dead.

XPS with no option for even 9600 gt, Dell is going nowhr.

Product quality has gone down, n now the config too.

First of all xps wasnt even the budget line to begin with. Its the mid high end line and still is pretty decent value for money.

Second with regard to product quality it wasnt dell's fault that nvidia's 84XX were all fked

And third the studio xps 1640 has ati m6 gpu the mobile equivalent of a 3670 which is only slightly slower than the 9600gt(check the nbr forums)

And since dell has taken over alienware they cant cannibalize their own premium products by offering them at a lower price. Thats why you wont see a 9800m in an xps anytime soon. Hopefully we can see an alienware in india soon.

my question would be why didnt they use M4650.

It would be better off with 9600M/9650M than M3670.
