The scariest game you played !!

A new poll for the scariest game you have played, irrespective of the platform. Please vote and specify as to why it was scary to you.
For me it would be the silent hill series for the atmosphere, sound :death: and weird enemies !
The radio static and those dogs made me jumpy ! I had a friend come over to place to finish the game :ashamed:

WTF .... haven't played any of them ..... suddenly i am out of gaming world .....

is it only me or other feel the same ....

@Sandy that was scary s**t as well. Sadly haven't played the fatal frame series. :(

@Rahul: These are console and PC games as well. ;) Hence they seem alien to you. Get a gamepad and play sh2, sh3 and sh4 if you haven't.

@QF: actually doom 3 is nowhere as scary as the console franchises :p See if you can get a copy of sh3 for your PC. Should run well on your card.

PS: Dont blame me if you get nightmares :p

I've played the entire Sh and Re series and IMO -

the remake of resident evil on the gamecube pretty much the scariest game i've ever played. That, and Re4, isn't exactly scary, but the ganados are so much smarter than your typical zomby's, they even work and live like normal people! But when it comes to intruders, they're worse then zomby's. and when you hear a chainsaw motor turn on sound from nowhere, you're in for some major decapitation treat if you don't get the **** out of there ASAP.

After that, Silent Hill 3. Easily the scariest game of the series. Sh4 blowed in every way  and Sh1 was scary too. Fans on the PC might want to give SH.

And where did Fatal Frame series go in that list? I didn't complete the games because it didn't feature any guns :( but i can easily tell its way scarier than the SH series.

Alone in the Dark:new Nightmare - at first, i sold the game back, because of a shock it gave me  i was checking this gate, all of a sudden lightning strikes in that split sec you can see a the room filled with zombies lightened up by the light of the lightning :0 got it back 6 months later, and finally beat it.

Have to try Clive Barker's Undying though...

i try to avoid scary and dark games in the first place ;)
DOOM3 was sceary for few minutes. Then got bored of same old thing and left the game.
FEAR is spooky, i have played it only little bit. But its spooky.
My gaming is mostly in night that makes scary game even more scary. And i honestly dont like scary games. I dont spend 10s and 1000s of buck on shiny new processor and graphic card for games to scare the shit out of me and raise my BP and pulse rate for no reason.

I leave it to real life tensions :p

undying.

uninstalled the game mid-way couldnt take it anymore.

was able to complete silent hill 2 and silent hill 4 (half of it). scary... but the combat system blows

I dont know if anybody amongst you have played fear or not but trust me its spookeyyyy,Creeeepppyyy like hell... Definately one of the scariest games i have ever played...

SYstem Shock 2 deserves a respective 2nd spot in my list...

Most didn't manage to scare me and those that did weren't scary after a few levels. The mansion levels in undying and the marine campaigne in avp2 are the only 2 exceptions.

Can't get myself to play systemshock2, the demo didn't scare me but I can see how it can be scary to some people.
And doom3 wasn't scary at all lol - atmospheric yes, scary no.

Well I don't like creepy creatures creeping up on me. Tried Doom and well, was creepy and left it. So only creepy game I've played was Doom. So my vote goes for Doom. Did play the Undying Demo. Was also scary.... Felt it to better than Doom in the list of creepy crawler games.

System shock dweetiya

well hav played doom , thing

thing was :p

doom has sme creepy corners nd had my heart racing :( ...which i dont like

For me, it was the Doom series (especially Doom 3). Reasons:

1. I am a rabid Doomster

2. The sheer darkness of D3 itself is half the scare

3. Amazing sounds, more so after I got the 5.1 surround headset

4. I just didnt want to go further, being scared of what might jump out

5. Probably also because I have never played any of the other games in the poll, except System Shock Dwiteeya (too cheesy, IMO)

6. Waiting for F.E.A.R.

But yeah... even I dont like scary games. I got really pissed when I encountered creepy monsters in FarCry. I never expected it.
