Hey everyone, I’m new to this community, so I understand that trust is something built over time. I recently came across an opportunity where a member @prd_407 is willing to help me purchase an iPhone using their credit card to avail a discount. The suggested method is that they log into my shopping account, place the order, and I pay them via UPI once the order is dispatched.

While I respect the trust within this community, the amount involved is quite large, and I want to ensure a safe transaction for both sides. I wanted to ask the admins—do you typically step in as middlemen in such cases, or is it expected that members handle trust-based deals independently?

If any admin is open to discussing this further, please DM us in a unified chat. I’d really appreciate some guidance on how to proceed safely. Thanks in advance!

Mods do not get involved, at all.

This is a favor system that has been established on the forum as a matter of goodwill. So yes, it's trust-based, so it is commonly done among known/trusted members.

AFAIK, there have never been any disputes/scams in this regard.

What’s offered here is more than fair to you. In cases like these, I have always paid upfront before any purchases were made. Them waiting for dispatch is a kind gesture.
Yes its customary here in TE as a mark of respect towards each others. Sometimes shipping amount will be shared between the buyer & seller.

When I asked for a CC details for an amazon purchase one TE member gave it to me on WhatsApp TE chat and that is how we TE brothers bond and help each other. But I didn't use it because instant discount is given as amazon pay balance & cashback is given if we purchase again for a % of amount. Then later almost 5 TE members offered me help. See this is how we behave with each other here. No Mods will stand as middlemen as it all depends on mutual trust & self respect.
The CC was needed actually for my kid's purpose for arranging her books using cloth hangars. My wife was frantically asking her friends & relatives for the said CC and I told her that I will ask my TE forum & she was surprised to see how fast members responded to the request.
