Hi,

Any of you or your family members/friends have any toe nail fungus treatment experience (home remedy or medical other than nail surgery)?

Please share here suggestions & home remedies that works, as I have same issue, toe nail infection yet not reach to nail bed but both toe nail start bending inside (starts ingrow toe nail)

Thanks

Daily soak your feet in warm salty water at night for 10-15 minutes.
You can also replace salt with -
1) Listerine,
2) mixture of (baking soda, epsom salt and vinegar)
3) white vinegar

Use different ingredient everyday from above list for soaking ur feet.

Also as a daily practice use dusting powder on your affected areas of feet (my personal favorite is Boro Plus Ice Cool Powder, it is herbal and works way better than other commercially available dusting powders).

Try to keep your feet dry as much as possible. Clean and hygienic footwear is a must. Spray liquid sanitizers on inner side of your footwear regularly to disinfect them.

Hi,
hope you yourself have POSITIVE experience of all this products?
and moving toward fungus free nail or already got rid from any nail fungus?
I only have issue with TOE NAIL only, as no other part of feet skin have any kind of fungus or injury

My uncle who is a diabetic visited a skin specialist just 5 days ago for his thumb nail infection. He gave only a watery liquid medicine to apply on that nail & no tablet etc. He was already dealing with the issue since a month but was on/off. Last week we went fora short trip where uncle enjoyed rains.
Now, after this treatment symptoms have worsened, area has swollen and watery liquid is oozing out too and pain as well. Today contacted that doctor he said its the effect of treatment.

Hi I'm not Diabetic and also don't want to gulp unnecessary medications as it didn't help and issue is still there.. so now Doctor keep suggesting that as none of medicine will useful for it, just get it Removed by Operation and when I ask that did this will solved issue once NEW NAIL Re-grow ... with a fishy smile he said, "will check after that".... & I understood what he meant ... so turn here on TE for suggestions

I have had athletes foot during college, I saw multiple doctors for it, nothing topical worked. Then a skin specialist prescribed me itraconazole 100, twice a day, for 15 days. The infection never returned.

Thats one line of making monies..
My own story since childhood.. my right thumbnail is 8th one, and almost 6 or 7 finger nails are either 2nd or 3rd. Imagine how many lacs worth of surgeries I might had to undergo if I ever opted for knife ?
But not to sound OC, get a secondary consultation. Here people will only share their exps.

I have a question. Are you sure it's fungus and not bacterial?
Btw, have you tried anti fungal cream?

I had once got a severe fungal infection. The anti fungal cream worked wonders.

Keep it clean, keep it dry. Put the toe under running water to wash and dry it afterwards. Apply topical ointment, anything like Candid-B (Glenmark)/Panderm(Macleods)/Dermotriad(Dabur).

For ingrown toe nail, get this.

While cutting toenails, make sure you cut in straight line, not along the curvature of nail. Cutting along the curvature promotes ingrown nails which ultimately causes infections.

Avoid wearing shoes as much as possible.
If you got to wear shoes, make sure to put plenty of Abzorb or any similar medicated dusting powder inside shoes and socks. While seated in office, if possible, open your shoes and sit. Change socks daily, keep everything dry as much as possible. Leave shoes in the sun. Change socks daily. Alternate between shoes.

Fungus is notorious to kill. Instead of trying home remedies, go to a dermatologist. A few months of Ketoconazole, Fuconazole or Terbinafine pills + cream should clear out the infections.
I went through all these Antibiotics and they work for say for month or 3 months and same nail issue came again

it's some sort of ingrow toe nail, some time in past (2 yrs back) it turn bluish/greenish and then I can peel it off just like onion peel so easy no pain nothing while peeling just with hand no need to use nail cutter or any other tool. But now with new re-grown nail I start feeling high pain if seat in VAJRASAN position or use some pressure on Toe Nail.

I stop using shoes since last 10-12 yrs, using maximum for 7 days in a Year and that too on some marriage or any kind function where wearing a chappal/Sandal is not suit with dress. thanks for suggestions.

Try the salt soaking method i mentioned in my post.
doing same since long time but one or two times in a week. (adding alum/sea salt/dettol etc. one at a time not mixing it)

I may apply itraconazole cream (if available) but will not take itraconazole tablets without prescription from Doctor and my doctor now not in a mood to prescribe any medicine but Surgery

Find another doctor.
Fungus takes lot of time to go. Some measures work for some people and some dont. Its trial and error mostly. They give lots of liquid and oral meds etc, but it all rarely works. However you dont have any other options then except for operation, so try all these before you go for that. It doesnt hurt to try less invasive methods first.

Hi All,
somewhere I read (online) that Vicks Vaporub works.
Also some kind medicated Nail Lacquer works.. but that medicated Nail Lacquer cost like BOMB.
Keep suggesting your methods ....
