Usnews is a lot better than this. And what stream are these rankings for? Unless the only reason you wish to go for MS/PhD is to get settled in the US, there is absolutely no reason to follow any sort of rankings. You must look at the individual departments in the area u want to specialize in. There are lots of lower rated universities which are really good for a particular thing. For example SUNY Buffalo has one of the best Pattern Recognition labs (CEDAR), UNC is the best in Graphics, Columbia has one of the best computer vision labs (CAVE), Michigan State has some of the best people in Image processing.

Moral of the story: Identify what you want to work in, then find the best places for that, then ask your professor to get in touch with those people so that the person under whom you wish to apply has a good idea who you are and what u've been working on, then apply. You'll have a far better chance of getting through with aid than normally. Rankings aren't worth a dog's @$$
 
sorry for my curt post, but chaos pretty much summed up what i had to say. Also, us news ranks colleges by majors (although not extremely specialized fields).

F1 study not only doesnt show all the colleges under a certain major, but also has incorrect links for the univ sites. eg. all the links to umich lead me to the michigan state univ site.

I dont believe you can simply disregard rankings. Its a useful comparism tool. I agree that you shudnt base your selection solely on rankings and more research is required, but there is no need to be curt to the guy.
