I'm on MTNL Triband 256kbps unlimited in delhi, with the D-Link 502T router.

I easily get download speeds of up to 28kbps on LimeWire, but a pathetic 3-4kbps on utorrent.

Are my setting wrong?

Can someone pls help?

Do you get 3-4kB/s on all torrents or only on those torrents which have very few seeders/leechers?

I think 6pack is right, you max need to forward a port too.

Lemme guess, you get pathetic speeds on torrents from public trackers right? That is a common think and happens to all of us.

Like our friends above me said, you need to properly forward your ports. Go to PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall for more details.

Apart from that, do not forget to check your NAT setting. You may have to disable/enable UPnP both in utorrent and the router. If you are using private trackers then you'll also need to disable Local Peer Discovery and Peer Exchange in utorrent.

Lastly, limit your upload speed to 80% of your bandwidth. For example, I am on the same plan as you, and I keep my uploads limited to 20kB/s.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I just randomly selected a different port, and voila, speeds of 27-29kbps.

No port forwarding, no change in settings... nothing.

how lucky is THAT!

Do I STILL need port forwarding?
