Trip - Goa during new year eve?

Hi,

I was wondering if i plan to have a 2/3 day trip to Goa this new year (30,31,1), how much will it cost (including to & fro flight, stay, food etc)?

Also what are the things that 4 guys (25yrs) can do in Goa on new yrs eve? ;) Are there any pre-made travel plans available for people in our age-grp? We do not want to visit any religious places, etc. We just wanna have fun.
Also if i book tickets, etc will it be a problem to book now due to less time ?

First of all you won't get booking.

Secondly, even if you do, any average five star will charge 25-40k per night on twin sharing basis. So that is like 75-100k per night for 4 people.

With a budget of 3 lacs, you are all set.

And just btw, the room which costs 25k per night per couple during New Years comes at 5k during off season. So the rates go up five times.

If we can make a bio-gas plant utilize the amount of bullshit you spew, we would be able to solve India's electricity problems!

You can have a decent enough time in Goa for as low as 5K(per person) . Try to cut your expenses by going by train, *not staying in Leela for 40K per day* etc. You wont find good deals online or via travel agents as they are out to make money during the new years. Try to reach there and explore your options.

I once got a Huge Room in Goa on 31st nite for just 500 RS in palolem beach

try to hook up on indiamike and couchsurfing and see if you can get any cheap deals ,,, seriously 25k , dude come on:p

@rite aka techboy: dude no offence but you seem to be a 12year old kid with a wannabe attitude and an A5. Your posts on every forum are disctinctly recognizable (and deceiving?).

"budget of 3 lacs, you are all set" ? Seriously? Go roam in your dad's bimmer instead of giving us suggestions.

Seriously man, I have never spent more than 10K total on any of my trips to Goa. Train 3rd AC is like 500Bux. I would recommend you find a lodge and call em up to book rooms ASAP. They normally charge Rs 300-500 bux per room, so max you will pay now is Rs750. You can all fit aaram se in 2 rooms.

Now in Goa, best bet is rent a kinetic(150-200/day) for transport and roam around. Check out the beaches, shacks. Fort Aguada is great, (not the real one, goto Fort Aguada Taj). Apart from this there are many parties going on, which you can check out. Anjuna Beach specially.

Food is always cheap at shacks and for 100Bux, you can fill your tummy, with great tasting goan or continental food. Booze is dirt cheap. Kings beer ROX!!!! 15-20 bux per bottle, even cheaper if you buy a crate and sell the glass bottles back.

Goa is a brilliant place with a relaxed atmosphere and an awesome place to chill.

PS. Goan sausages in Pav's taste awesome and are a great snack. You get them at the roadside places.

P.P.S: Casino Royale is great too if you are good at poker or something. They have some great packages and promotions on their site. http://www.casinoroyalegoa.com/

During around 22nd Dec to 7th Jan the rates for everything in Goa are almost twice or thrice the normal rates. That is the only problem. In short time you may not get train booking. But bus is always there. Though I hate bus journey - I heard there are some very good bus services between Mumbai/Pune to Goa.

^^^ i agree, dec-jan, prices are at its peak, even food on the beachside shacks, the kine's/bikes and all the water sports and the place is also too crowded.

at max you can try getting in touch with some locals, they rent rooms, which you can get at dirt cheap prices (300-500bux)

Getting reservations for hotels has been my concern too, although I have booked railway ticket for me and my family but we all all considering to avoid Goa and go to Kerala or something.

Does anybody here know any good places where a family of 9 can stay in Goa? [28th,29th,30th,31st]

Also, what all to do there? Where are some good beaches etc?

Go for SUNBURN Festival (27-29th) dude. 4.5K for 3 day pass. Lodging 1.5K per room in Candolim area. Cottages/Lodges near Anjuna are pretty cheap Rs. 500-800.

Just to give you an idea, heres what we've planned for this year (per person/per couple).

SUNBURN -- 4.5K per head

Booze -- 2K per head

Food -- 3K per head

Room -- 3K per head (for three days)

Travel -- 1.5K to and fro (BLR to Goa)

Local travel -- Rs. 300 Per day for Activa

Overall MAX 15K, if you don't over indulge :D

It would be way cheaper if you are an all-boys group.

You are amazing mate! Im sure those around you live thier lives @ of several wtf's per second!! I envy them.

1. I assume that you don't want to stay in anything less than a five star or four star deluxe.

The cost for such a basic room on twin sharing basis will be like 20-30k per night during 30-1st and about 15-20k during the few days around that time.

If you go for a top tier five star you will spend 40k+ and if you go for a three star you will probably spend at least 10k per night on twin sharing basis.

Assuming you are charged 20k per night per twin sharing basis, you end up spending 120k just on your rooms for 4 people for 3 days.

Frankly, anything less than a decent four star isn't worth it and that will cost at least 12-18k per night on twin sharing basis during that time.

So let us say about 1lac or so on your stay.

2. New Year Party: You would like to go for a five star, and with drinks you will end up spending 30-50k on New Year's.

3. Assuming that you spend 2k per day per person on food on average, sometimes a good restaurant and sometimes a dhaba. That means another 20-30k or so.

4. The remaining 20-30k on your air travel.

5. Assuming you do 0 shopping and all, just to have a decent time you need to shell out close to 2 lacs. For a splendid time, I would say 3+ lacs.

NOW, GOA DURING OFF SEASON

1. Rooms = 2, Rs.10k per night for 4, 3 days, Rs.30k

2. Travel = 30k

3. Food = 20-30k

Extras = 10k

At most one lac for 4 people all inclusive.

During super peak season, the rates are nearly three times overall and close to 4-5 times only for the stay.

Now if you want to stay in a guest house or some crappy place and eat only from roadside vendors, travel by auto and all then it is different.

But if I were you, I wouldn't want to travel by anything less than Air Economy Kingfisher/Jet/Biz GoAir/First Class Train, preferably stay in a five star and have most meals in five stars or top restaurants and travel by taxi. So with that the expenses will obviously be tenfold more.
