Trying to install AMD CPU cooler fan (clip style) but failing. Pls help.

I ripped out the stock cpu cooler fan to insert an argb one

From whatever videos i saw online, i need to fasten the two tabs that come with the motherboard box on either side over the holes (visible in the pic above)

These tabs

But the screws provided with it, don't get screwed in because their diameter is too small and the holes on the mobo are too big

As you can see , screw is too short and barely comes out on the other end so can't be fixed on to the hole on the mobo

What am I doing wrong?

I cannot see the backplate behind the motherboard, it must have slid off when you took out the clips.

Remove the motherboard, secure the backplate correctly behind the socket, lining up the holes and then attach the cooler. Mount the whole thing into the case
 
Thanks guys. It was as SunnyBoi had said. The backplate had fallen off and was lying amidst the cables at the back of the case. Fixed it now and was able to fasten the tabs now. Thanks a ton.
