OK, I confess I'm bored and want to play with distros again.

I'm considering the latest Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) or PCLinuxOS 2007 - is anyone running either of these at the moment can give me their views - I think Spezi or Flops were using PCLinux at one time - anyone running the latest Ubuntu?

a few pple had problems with the latest xorg on nvida 6100 series gpus with nvidia hardware drivers. nothing wrong with the older xorg versions though .

PCLinuxOS if you want a basic and OTB working system! If you love to try out various softwares etc. and have a decent net connection,go for Ubuntu Gutsy! If you need everything working OTB plus a chance to play a lot with the system, opt for Ubuntu Ultimate :)

@FILL4U: you answered your own question! You are bored and want to "play with distros", so do that, play/test them all!

Between the few distros I tried, I'm sticking with Ubuntu 7.10 waiting for Hardy 8.04 launch eagerly... Haven't tried (and don't care to) Mint.

ubuntu for

1.ultimate user community

2.timely 6 month updates

3.xlent selection of softwares

4.good for desktop use(sudo anyone?)

5. find all the help in hugest forum

6. most compatible for hardware(i would still suggest to sick with intrl all the way for linux)

7. the magic of synaptic(i makes installing softwares ridiculously easy!!!)

8.not bloated(but faster distros do exist)

9. only one cd , rest on online updates)

10.slick gnome interface(i like it better than kde for its no fuss attitude, efficiency and much better stability)

PCLOS 07 is old now comes with old s/w installed.. So better get ubuntu Gutsy ... Well if you want everything out of the box get Linux Mint Daryna :)
I have tried mint twice and both times it stops working d=eventually due to some driver conflict or any other problem , i read somewhere that it aint much stable because it has both Gnome and KDE apps bundled ? Is that true ?

^^ Can't say about Daryna but Cassandra is unstable and hangs a lot.. Also the driver proble can be fixed if you chane the boot live cd option by pressing F6 i.e other boot option ;)
